Microsoft's latest Office suite
Review of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 by
afraser
Advantages: New User Interface increases productivity, fresh look
Disadvantages: Not Worth the Money to Upgrade from 2003, not compatible with 2003 version
Microsoft Office Home and Student is good office package overall, but it takes some getting used to without the File etc. menus. The new 'Office' button is the button you will use for everything.
The ribbons features comes in handy sometimes, but sometimes it is annoying and takes a while to get used too. The new design looks very fresh and new.
At the moment Microsoft Office Home and Student is not really for replacing Office 2003, as Office 2007 ... ...businesses and your workplace.
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is quite expensive but will boost your productivity somewhat. There is tighter integration between the various applications themselves, e.g. you can now edit Excel graphs within a Word document, which is a very handy feature.
Overall this product offers a cleaner interface but for many the upgrade will not be justified. ...

Better and better
Review of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 by
al1986st
Advantages: easier to navigate, extras added
Disadvantages: takes time to get used to
Microsoft office 2007 is a fantastic update to the other microsoft office packages, I purchased tis produced 1 year ago, and at first was a bit sceptical about how the new layout was done. However once i got used to the new layout and design of the product it wa clear how much easier this version was to use.
With many other new extras like - choice of hedding wthout having to scroll through all of the font designs.
Everything about this product ... ...menus in this vertion of microsoft office, the drop down menus have been changed to static menus which go across thetop of your page, so there is no longer the need to go into the same drop dow menu several times as it stays fixed until you choose a different menu.
So despite being sceptical at first about using this product, now can cant see why anyone whould want to stay with the old vertion, i much prefer this vetion an would recoment anyone ...

You can do all the old things in new ways
Review of Microsoft Office Standard 2007 by
titusbumus
Advantages: For a newbie it's much easier to use
Disadvantages: For an old hand it's a pain to get your head around
...know that I am a Microsoft Office Master Instructor and as such have been using and teaching Microsoft Office for many years. This means that I tend to look at software in a slightly different way then the average user.
Microsoft Office 2007 is the latest incarnation of this very popular productivity application suite. And it marks a major change in the way that the user interacts with the software.
The most obvious difference a regular user will ... ...re-write like this is that Microsoft have to try and meet the needs of a very wide range of people with very different skill sets, it is often said that over 90% of the users use less than 10% of the packages facilities. What this means is that striking a balance is never an easy task and I think in this case Microsoft have gone more towards the light or inexperienced user.
Whilst I can see why they have done this I do find it rather frustrating ...

Money - worth it but only just
Review of Microsoft Money 2005 Standard Media by
dougcam1
Advantages: Has every feature you can think of and more
Disadvantages: Help files not helpful/ available offline
This is an extensive and powerful money management tool, whether you want to keep track of your every move financially or simply to balance your bank statement each month, the features pretty much allow you to do as much or little with it as you like. It's basic account tracking is probably it's best feature. It's clearly laid out, the income and expense categories cover almost every conceivable area, and the integration with most major banks and ... ...found the pop-up tips regarding personal finance slightly annoying, however there is some good advice contained within them. The reports it can produce are wide ranging, and contain lots of facts, figures and advice and are almost completely customisable and exportable to spreadsheet software.
Setting up more than a basic account tracker can be slightly more challenging, and I found gradually building up my understanding of the program was easier ...

Office 2007 -- No Compromises!!!
Review of Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 by
callumbm
Advantages: The most user-friendly desktop publishing software out!
Disadvantages: Bit slow to start up.
...is very straight forward by Microsoft standards. Simply insert your disc, enter your serial number and you're away. Nothing complicated about it at all. It should be noted though, the bar displaying how far on the installation process is, is nothing to go by. Depending on your processor speed, the regularity of this bar moving is dependant.
After registration is complete you are asked to validate the software. This is not complicated at all, simply ... ...into the most popular - Microsoft Office:
As I mentioned, the layout is much different and comfortably fits in with Vista's Aero theme. The toolbars have been replaced with 'Tabs' stating; 'Home', 'Insert', 'Page Layout' etc. By clicking one of these tabs - a 'Pane' will open below it - this Pane displays the relevant tools. For example; by clicking the 'Insert' tab will open the 'Insert Pane'. This pane has large icons like:
- Cover page
- Blank ...
