Teaching me ECDL? Well, sort of...

Advantages: Clear instructions, Interactive, Inexpensive
Disadvantages: Variable sound quality, Uses older version of Office

...ROM much more effective at teaching the practical rather the theoretical parts of the ECDL course. The information presented is clear to understand, but given the obvious emphasis towards this being a beginner's course I was surprised that the software modules didn't include an introductory section on any of them. If you are new to a piece of software, a short explanation and overview of the key features and terminology is useful before you start ...
...Access before, for example, I felt quite lost when the first sections on module 5 didn't give me this basic framework to start from - I needed to go to my textbook to get this starting point, and then come back to the CD ROM. Hardly the "one stop" package it claims to be! Over all, I do think I got my money's worth from this CD ROM, as I used it a lot over the three months I was studying for my ECDL. For the number of hours I got from it, £9.99 ...

A cheaper way to get fit than Wii Fit

Advantages: The same as the Wii version for a third of the price!
Disadvantages: You have to stick with it

...interactive programme which runs a PC and is virtually identical to 'My Fitness Coach' which runs on the Wii Console which you can work with to improve your fitness. It offers a range of exercise routines at different levels to suit your needs. The big advantage to PC Fitness is that I got mine for just £5 on Amazon as opposed to paying almost £15 for the Wii version! Out of the box When you first load it and enter your name it takes you through ...
...I really do like PC Fitness. It certainly gave me a good workout. The cardio routines especially raise my heart rate and let me work up a sweat even if I select only the 15 minute option. Also the routines change every time as the exercises vary so I don't get bored with doing the same thing every time and they are relatively easy to follow. Some repeat of course but with the music changes and the routine changes I am really enjoying my daily workout. ...

...Memory and listening As the game starts your child follows Frankie the dog into the schoolhouse, if you are playing for the first time you will be invited to type in your name, if you have played before then simply select it from the drop-down menu at the start. Outta my way - I'm hitting the road! (Hopefully...!)

Advantages: VERY simple to use.
Disadvantages: None.

...considerably since those days. Driving tests no longer just feature the simple multiple-choice theory test (alongside the practical test of course!). No, new drivers to be are expected to undertake the additional hazard perception test & the 'show me, tell me' test. I figured it was time to invest in a more comprehensive learning tool.... So, I bought the Driving Test Success CD ROM. I eagerly popped the disc into my PC as soon as it arrived. Within ...
...account on the programme (several people can use it at once, with their data being saved individually) & was taking a mock theory test to see what stage I was at. The programme is SO simple to use. You can practice blocks of questions, then narrow the questions down to the ones you consistenly fail on; you can practice all the hazard-perception tests, then whenever you feel like trying your luck on the mock-tests, you can sit either the theory or ...

slow & 'orrible

Advantages: Erm.... well the CD-ROM makes a good frisbee, cheap (£5.99)
Disadvantages: slow as ****, low quality graphics, doesn't live up to the blurb on the back

I came across this in the bargain software section of a certain local supermarket which shall remain nameless (but you may have seen a TV chef...... I think it was Ken Hom..... buying ingredients for his TV show several years ago). I'd been wanting some sort of Atlas software for my PC for sometime, and thought I might as well give this a shot when I saw it. Erm........... whoops! The recommended system requirements for this piece of crap are: ...

CD-ROM speed: 16x or faster Audio: Any Direct X7.0 compatible sound card. So, I thought my computer could handle this no probs. Ummm.......... nope. The Tech spec. of my computer is as follows: PC Chips M810LR Motherboard 1100MHz AMD Duron Processor 54X CD-ROM 30GB Hard drive 384MB of RAM (64MB for ...
