Good Overall Word Processor
Review of Lotus Word Pro 97 97 Complete package by
jaebaber
Advantages: Cheap, Good features, Excellent when used with lotus Smart Suite.
Disadvantages: German spell checker isnt all that good (but the english is, spot on. And its British English not American)
...like Lotus, but then again, Lotus doesn't really like them. Lotus Word Pro 97 is a good overall Word processor. Sure, it doesn't have all the facilities that Microsoft Word does, but it's cheap. Good for students and people on a tight budget, and when used with Lotus Smart Suite, its Excellent. Offers all the Major features that Microsoft Office does, at a fraction of the cost. A wide range of Templates, for everything from Letter writing, to Project ...

Email is only part of the story
Review of Lotus Notes R5 Software Only 5 Media by
dobieg
Advantages: far more than just an email client
Disadvantages: requires specialist support and setting up
Lotus Notes is a business tool. It is of very limited use to an individual user working in isolation.
Rather than try and regurgitate individual bullet points which are listed on IBMs site, I will try and explain just what Notes is, and why it is of immense value to business.
To describe Lotus Notes as an email client is rather missing the point.
It's true that about 90% of the work it handles is electronic mail, however that's only part of the ... ...from other packages such as Lotus SmartSuite and Microsoft Office.
As a simple mail client, Notes can connect to the standard internet type mail servers, using POP3 and SMTP. This ignores the real power of the software.
It can also be used as a web browser, however it was never really designed to act as your 'main browser' and tends to be rather slow and cumbersome at this task.
To gain the full advantage of Lotus Notes you need a 'Domino' server ...

Easy to Use
Review of Lotus 1-2-3 Millennium Edition 9.7 Complete package by
mcfarlane
Advantages: ease of use
Disadvantages: expensive
Lotus 1-2-3 (millennium edition) is a simple spreadsheet package offering a host of functionality. This latest version has a useful 'help' section and many 'fast' keys to get you through the calculations as quickly as possible. A very useful feature is the 'smartmaster' sets of pre-loaded templates such as:
expense reports; creating invoices; budget planning, etc.
Importing and exporting data couldn't be simplier between the Lotus Smartsuite range ...

Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 Ultra
Review of Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 Ultra by
wilding2004
Advantages: Low cost, Good features, Ease of use
Disadvantages: Slightly buggy
...being a member of the Cyberlink forum, I'm aware that the main issue raised about PowerDirector is its apparent "buggyness". Tech support appears to release bug fixes quite quickly, but only when many users report the same problem. Usually there is a work-around, and the fact that I and others continue to use the program indicate that the good points out weight the bad.
I've tried trail versions of lots of other video editors, and PowerDirector ...

Not cheap, but seriously not bad either
Review of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 by
MBC16
Advantages: Ease of installation and use
Disadvantages: Price and major differences from previous generation of software
...come into contact with old-school Microsoft software - using a laptop from 2002 (that was old for the time!) at home until earlier this year, using Windows 95 (!) at work until this time last year, I was a little apprehensive when it came to changing.
My laptop came to a grinding halt in May of this year, meaning a replacement was needed. So far, so good. Then I read the blurb for the huge variety of software options - pretty mid-boggling. Fortunately, ... ...know that it's an official Microsoft product, but come on. I got a "special" deal and still felt ripped off.
Installation was incredibly easy and quick. Insert the disc, click a few buttons, wait a few minutes, and away you go.
Problem 2. It was then that I realised that the software I had been using for the best part of a decade had been obsolete for some time. How you view Office 2007 will depend to a large extent on how long you used the previous ...
