Good Overall Word Processor
Review of Lotus Word Pro 97 97 Complete package by
jaebaber
Advantages: Cheap, Good features, Excellent when used with lotus Smart Suite.
Disadvantages: German spell checker isnt all that good (but the english is, spot on. And its British English not American)
...like Lotus, but then again, Lotus doesn't really like them. Lotus Word Pro 97 is a good overall Word processor. Sure, it doesn't have all the facilities that Microsoft Word does, but it's cheap. Good for students and people on a tight budget, and when used with Lotus Smart Suite, its Excellent. Offers all the Major features that Microsoft Office does, at a fraction of the cost. A wide range of Templates, for everything from Letter writing, to Project ...

Email is only part of the story
Review of Lotus Notes R5 Software Only 5 Media by
dobieg
Advantages: far more than just an email client
Disadvantages: requires specialist support and setting up
Lotus Notes is a business tool. It is of very limited use to an individual user working in isolation.
Rather than try and regurgitate individual bullet points which are listed on IBMs site, I will try and explain just what Notes is, and why it is of immense value to business.
To describe Lotus Notes as an email client is rather missing the point.
It's true that about 90% of the work it handles is electronic mail, however that's only part of the ... ...from other packages such as Lotus SmartSuite and Microsoft Office.
As a simple mail client, Notes can connect to the standard internet type mail servers, using POP3 and SMTP. This ignores the real power of the software.
It can also be used as a web browser, however it was never really designed to act as your 'main browser' and tends to be rather slow and cumbersome at this task.
To gain the full advantage of Lotus Notes you need a 'Domino' server ...

Easy to Use
Review of Lotus 1-2-3 Millennium Edition 9.7 Complete package by
mcfarlane
Advantages: ease of use
Disadvantages: expensive
Lotus 1-2-3 (millennium edition) is a simple spreadsheet package offering a host of functionality. This latest version has a useful 'help' section and many 'fast' keys to get you through the calculations as quickly as possible. A very useful feature is the 'smartmaster' sets of pre-loaded templates such as:
expense reports; creating invoices; budget planning, etc.
Importing and exporting data couldn't be simplier between the Lotus Smartsuite range ...

Google Chrome Browser
Review of Google Chrome by
Dianthus
Advantages: Tab opening
Disadvantages: Stark appearance, lack of customisation beyond basics
...other browser). I downloaded Google Chrome a couple of days ago and, like the other posters here, I have mixed feelings about it.
Like them I found it very minimalistic in appearance - there's a LOT of blank white space on the home page - and I can't find any way of customising the appearance so far (apart from the "zoom text", etc tools, but I suppose it will attract "skinners" eventually once they find a way to create them)
Talking about tools ... ...the "Report bug or broken website" function. I've often wanted to do that without fiddling around trying to find out how and where to do so. Another is the ability to create application shortcuts without leaving the browser. Also, there's a "one-click" tab creator so you can choose which tabs open when you first open the browser. You can do that in FireFox, but the instructions I was given on how to do so involves writing a small program for each ...

The usual inovative google
Review of Google Chrome by
dE_logics
Advantages: TOO FAST!! Smart interface; though minimal, its very nice.
Disadvantages: lacking features, something terribly wrong with the spellcheck
...in a flash!! As usual, google came up with something very new, the interface is too a bit unusual, that is the usual google way (always innovative), though it's to a minimal, but with Windows areo combined...its awesome!! The shape of the tabs some how matches with aero, it gives you a 'glassy' look, also the reflection of the glass (in aero) is at angle with the trapezium of the tabs. The minimal interface makes sure that you get lots of space, ... ...saves the tabs like firefox
Finally, i'm sure google will do away with the few bugs in the browser in the final release but still firefox remains on top, its indispensable with the tools it packs, you really feel the power with firefox, which is very unlike this one. ...
