Advantages: Good academic staff Disadvantages: Inefficient administration
...There are definitely some positivies about the University of Sheffield, but also a lot of negatives, particularly if you're a postgraduate. Constant budget cuts in the recent years have led to reductions in postgraduate funding and teaching, as well as having effected the quality of the teaching offered to undergraduates. The lack of a Dean in the Faulty of Arts for months now has led to delays in the awarding of degrees for postgraduates in this faculty, as well as adding to the mounting stress of staff members from the Arts. Finally, the IT system at Sheffield (known as CiCS) is unreliable at best. When you finish at Sheffield (and this applies to both undergraduates and postgraduates), your email will just be shut off with no warning. Sheffield has some great staff members, but the adminstration lets them and their students down....

Advantages: the campus is good Disadvantages: Worcester is not the most exciting place to live
...I recently applied to Worcester and was offered a place to study Art/Design with IT joint honours. Part of the entry requirement was to undertake a three art week summer school. This I looked forward to but at the end of the first week I was kicking my heels. Yes I was out of term time and the students had mostly gone, but the city itself is very sleepy. nalatie
Advantages: Lively atmosphere, easy access to resources & support Disadvantages: Fees!!!
...I studied at my foundation diploma at City & Guilds of London Art School from Sep 2002-May 2003. It was not initially my first choice, mainly due to the fees, I also intended to go for a slightly more reputable and predictable school, such as any of the London Institute schools-ie Chelsea, the infamous Saint Martins, Camberwell etc. However, due to a late application, I chose to apply to City & Guilds which I think without a doubt was ultimately the right choice for me.
The School
--------------------------
City & Guilds is a very unique institution. Situated centrally in a group of Georgian terraced houses in Kennington, London, it is very easy to access art resources from here such as galleries, for example-the Imperial War Museum is a mere 15 minutes walk from the School. Due to the scale of the school-approx 300 students- it has...
