A decent university.
Review of Surrey University, Guildford by  Leighsa

Advantages: Nice location, close to town, has almost everything, campus uni, good place in the rankings.Has improved rankings and quality/reputation in a lot of subjects,-esp. sciences.
Disadvantages: Still hasn't got rid of the 'polytechnic' image, guilford locals being a bit 'snobby'

Also it is true that if you get rejected from Oxbridge then your application is not prejudiced in any way. Nottingham has very high entry requirements to cope with the high demand for places. I can definitely say that it is worth applying if you have the grades. Also It is well worth visiting as it is very easy to fall in love with the campus as soon as you walk through the gates....
