Advantages: broad range of topics covered, great teaching and support Disadvantages: some people see geology as an easy option....its not, but it is great
...I applied to do geology at various Universities, and had the grades and offers for Bristol, Southampton and Plymouth.
I chose Plymouth because of the structure of the course, and the great friendly 'family' atmosphere I experienced when visiting and loved every moment of it.
There are several options for a geology based course you can:
(Like me) Do a Bsc Geological Sciences (3years)
Do Applied Geology (3 yrs
Do Mgeol Geology (masters course 4 years)
Do Geology with....... (eg Ocean science)
Do EarthScience
All these courses have there advantages and disadvantages, (and for the first year Geol, Applied geol, and Mgeol are identical) but for someone who knows they want to do Geology, but are not sure what area they want to specialize in I would recommend...

Advantages: Good Bunch of people Disadvantages: Too much Quaternary stuff
...Environmental EarthScience degree in Aberystwyth is not a bad course for someone who is interested in the environment but is not too keen on the biological side. It is basically a good course and I should know I graduated last year. The course is based around two research groups, the Quaternary Science group and the Environment and Heath research group. This combination can seam quite detached at times particularly in the third yr. The course has changes a lot in the last few years and has gone from a more geological to a more general environmental core of subjects. Any one with a grounding in Geology and Geography should walk through the first year with no problem....

Since I've reviewed virtually every Babylon 5 DVD release, I figured I may as well carry on going and aim for the clean sweep! So then, this time I'm reviewing the box set of three feature length Babylon 5 films. I must confess, I don't actually own this more
I understand that this is the audio version, but I could not find the book and therefore will review this as if it were the novel!
This book, as the author himself says , is very much a word of mouth book and many years after its publication is now... more
