Geological Sciences at UOP - Geology Rocks!
Review of Geological Sciences by  micropal

Advantages: broad range of topics covered, great teaching and support
Disadvantages: some people see geology as an easy option....its not, but it is great

...I applied to do geology at various Universities, and had the grades and offers for Bristol, Southampton and Plymouth. I chose Plymouth because of the structure of the course, and the great friendly 'family' atmosphere I experienced when visiting and loved every moment of it. There are several options for a geology based course you can: (Like me) Do a Bsc Geological Sciences (3years) Do Applied Geology (3 yrs Do Mgeol Geology (masters course 4 years) Do Geology with....... (eg Ocean science) Do Earth Science All these courses have there advantages and disadvantages, (and for the first year Geol, Applied geol, and Mgeol are identical) but for someone who knows they want to do Geology, but are not sure what area they want to specialize in I would... Review of Applied Computing by  reeceferguson

Advantages: Staff, students, and excellant course content
Disadvantages: None

Set in two buildings, The Jam Factory and The Microcentre the department really feels like it is its own community, with three labs and a lecture theatre it is adequately resourced to deal with the relatively small class sizes. In the Jam Factory there is also a coffee room where staff and students both hang out and everybody is very relaxed and gets on. With our own society MACS the students and staf regularly enjoy outings and drinking events together which helps to create a great atmosphere. Everyone knows each other by first name. The course is also brilliant, all staff are interested in helping people with disability giving a slightly different slant on computing.... Read review

From the horses mouth
Review of Geology by  lynsey82

Advantages: Wide range of topics covered
Disadvantages: Quite a few staff recently made redundant

...I thought I'd be the first to write a review of the Geology course offered by the University of Greenwich. The school of Earth and Environmental Science is located at the Medway Campus of Greenwich University (near the historic dockyards Chatham, Kent). It is a fairly small campus, yet has recently expanded as two other campuses have closed down. If you want the hussle and bussle of a large university don't bother coming here. If you want, however, fewer people and a less hectic schedule this is the place. As for the subject itself. I am a second year student studying for BSc Geology. In the first year there were four modules: 1) Earth's Dynamic Systems - more of a physical geography type approach, covering weather and climate; mass movement, erosion, volcanoes and earthquakes etc... Excellent lecturer Matthew Bennett, who... Read review
