I have owned an Aprilia Pegaso 650 Cube for two years now and found it to be an excellent machine, just at home filtering through traffic as on a Sunday blast along country lanes. The riding position is comfortable, the view stretches over hedges and other cars, and the handling inspires confidence on even the roughest of roads.
I have travelled all around Ireland (wet and wetter) and last summer took a 3000 mile trip to France without ... ...noting: firstly, cold starting after the bike has been laid up for a few weeks which can involve up to 40 minutes attempting to start the bike and sometimes a recharge of the battery in between; secondly, the odd problem with carb icing on cold damp days which reduces engine performance and is hard to fix.
Wind blast gets to be an issue over 70 mph and cruising at anything over 90 can be tiring.

I have travelled all around Ireland (wet and wetter) and last summer took a 3000 mile trip to France without a hitch. There have only been two issues worth noting: firstly, cold starting after the bike has been laid up for a few weeks which can involve up to 40 minutes attempting to start the bike and sometimes a recharge of the battery in between; secondly, the odd problem with carb icing on cold damp days which reduces engine performance and is hard to fix.

All in all though, the bike performs all tasks well. It will never beat anything flat out on a motorway but take to the back roads and many sportsbike riders will be falling in your wake. I wouldn't recommend serious off road activity but the odd green lane or gravel track is fine. I have fitted a top box and taller screen and might consider heated grips for those cold mornings and long journeys. Other purchases in 15000 km have included one new Pirelli Scorpion rear tyre, rear brake pads, new x-ring chain and sprockets and two full services.
This is an excellent first bike, one which will help protect that valuable new licence from nasty penalty points whilst still giving you the full enjoyment and freedom of biking.

Quick review of Aprilia Pegaso 650
I bought an Aprilia Pegaso 1997 model several months ago, it has the Rotax engine and is a real Italian buity. It was cheap to buy and very cheap to insure but still goes very well. I have been riding since the age of 16 on the road and I am now 63 and have seldom come across a more fun bike. It is a big buch single but is smothe when riden. It sticks on the road like something unpleasant to a blancket. The finish on the bike is standing up to the test of time very well and I would recomend one to all age groups who want fun at low cost. ...
