This is a much better choice for 16 year old riders, like i was, as they give the rider much better grip on the road, as there is more rubber in contact with the road all of the time.

My bike was partially de restricted, and did 45mph easily, and 50mph at a push down a hill, which i think is pretty reasonable. I bought the bike as soon as i was 16, and had this bike until i recently passed my drving test, and never had any mechanical problems with it, despite usually riding at least 100 miles per week in all weather and conditions.
My bike was partially de restricted, and did 45mph easily, and 50mph at a push down a hill, which i think is pretty reasonable. I understand that the engine in this bike is the same as the one in the RS50, but geared differently. There are many people out there who you always hear saying that the Aprillias are unreliable. Like i said above, i never had any problems with mine, as i looked after it well, and i recommend only using fully synthetic oil, but this should be normal procedre for any biker, so it is good to get used to buying decent oil from the start.
Security is as good as you can expect, with a steering lock, but as the bike is only about 90kilos, it is easy for two people to pick up and steal. so i always used a disk lock as well, and whenever i went into inner city areas i made sure i took a heavy duty chain and pad lock with me to chain it up in a motorcycle area in car parks.
the main negative feature is that there is no fuel warning light, and when low on fuel the bike dies, and you have to switch tot he reserve tank. I only ever ran out of fuel once, and this was after about 30 miles on the reserve. A full tank, the most i managed to fit in was £10, and this did more than 100 miles. doesnt seem that great, but because it is only a 50cc bike, you are always riding it at high revs or you wont get anywhere quickly, which uses the fuel faster. Also, its not very comfortable, doesnt really matter though, as your not going to go far on it because it would take too long to get there. alright for nipping about.
The insurance cost me £300, and the road tax is only £15. when i recieved my insurance renewal with the one years no claims, this was down to under £150.
The gear box is a one down, five up. This is the hardest thing for a new rider to get used to, as when you do your CBT it is best to use a scooter, as it is easier to ride to start with, and then learn how to ride your own bike with gears afterwards. The gears and clutch on this bike really helped me when it came to learning to drive, and cut down the amount of lessons that i needed to pass. best of all making it cheaper.
This is an excellent first bike for anyone, it really turns everyones head, and no one will ever say that they dont like it. Also, any girls out there who are planning on buying a bike, and dont want to follow the usual trend of getting a scooter, this bike could also be for you, i am only about 5 foot seven, and was plenty big enough to ride the bike, so height is no problem for riding this bike, it is still only a moped, not a big bike. Would recommend this bike to anyone wanting to start out on a bike.
(Mine was cheap as it was stolen and recovered) Usually dont sell for less than £1000
Advantages: Gears, liquid cooled, fast off the mark, good looking, reliable Disadvantages: no "low fuel alert"
...I decided to get an Aprilia RX50. Although I got the bike 3rd hand, it was in practically brand new condition.
The first thing I noticed about this bike is that it was an off-roader. A motor-x style bike with a 50cc engine. Being a bit of an off-road bike fan, it was the ideal motorbike for me.
Although its designed and built like an off-roader, its main purpose is for on-road use...I don't think I can imagine anyone getting far with a 50cc on ... ...has a 50cc engine, the Aprilia RX50 has an engine which is just bursting with energy and gives the rider the impression that the little fella is trying to impress him by pushing that little bit harder. I'm sure that having the bike derestricted would make it go much faster than just 30mph...although I wouldn't suggest it to any 16 year olds as it is illegal for a 16 year old to ride a derestricted motorcycle because it is moved out of the category ...

...suit your leg length.
The suspension also has a gas shock absorber and telescopic front forks.
Two disk brakes front and rear means it stops instantly.
It realy is a fun ride.
I also own a gsx1100f but the aprilia is more fun to play on. ...

Advantages: Fast, good looks and can handle off road. Disadvantages: No fuel display.
...it came with the standard Aprilia exhaust and an Arrow Racing full system. I put the Arrow on within hours of getting the bike home, it sounded horrible with the standard and on riding it around my garden I discovered the performance left a lot to be desired. The bike also came with a 70cc big bore kit, but I haven't put that on as I have been told it ruins the engine and will eventually blow the bike up.
Along with the exhaust, I was given a pair ... ...standards but that could be because I was used to them from motocross. I also applied a pair of motocross grips and I would fully recommend them to anyone as they last much longer and provide far more grip than the standards.
Now I have done my CBT I have really been able to test the RX50. The bike is de - restricted so I can get a strong 60mph on flat and possibly 70 down hill? But I live in a rural area so I mostly ride down muddy lanes and the ...

Advantages: Fast, Nippy, looks fantastic and handles like a dream. Disadvantages: Not very secure, no fuel guage
I have had my Aprilia RX50 for a few days now, i had taken it on some private roads as i am not yet 16. I find it nippy, good speed (derestricted) and is comfortable to ride, it is quite heavy if you are still. But it handles quite nicely but doesn't turn very much if you are turning it around when going slow. It took me 5 minutes to learn to ride a geared bike, that was on the aprilia. When people say they can pull wheelies, i am impressed, the ...

Advantages: Looks good, sounds good, cheap to buy. Disadvantages: Makes a 50cc bike illegal at 16 just like any other exhaust.
I have an ApriliaRX50 racing, 2006. I have an arrow exhaust on it. it was already on there when i baught it, but the standard exhaust restricted it to 25 mph, but the full arrow exhaust kit makes it go to 55 to 60 mph. It looks alot better than the standard exhaust. They are easy to get hold of if you want one. For a full arrow exhaust system usually costs around £185. Arrow make many exhausts for many different bikes. When mine had the standard exhaust on it sound like a broken hair dryer like a standard moped, but now it sounds like a 125 cc motocross bike. I learnt how to ride it in 15 minutes, that was the first time i have ever ridden a geared motorbike. Even my dad loves it and he has a Yamaha R1 which is 20 x more powerful. All those people thinking of getting one, get an arrow. Hope this helps. ...
Advantages: High top speed and aceleration Disadvantages: Expensive to repair
The motorhispania RX50 is a very fast and reliable motorbike. It is a manual 6 gear bike, which allows quick aceleration and high top end speed for a 50cc engine and is legal to ride at 16.
Other bikes that are in the same league as the Motorhispania RX50 include, Aprilia RS50, Rieju RS2 Matrix, Yamaha TZR50, Derbi GPR50, and the Cagvia Mito 50.
What makes the Motorhispania apeal to me more and rise above the others, is that it is the biggest bike out of the lot, 9/10ths real size where as the others are only 8/10s. Also it is uncommon, unlike the Aprilia RS50 and so is classier to have while also not being hard to find and purchase like the Yamaha TZR50, and the Cagvia Mito 50 therefore having a smaller price tag.
The Derbi GPR50 is the slowest out of the lot, although can be fast when tuned up. The Rieju RS2 Matrix is ...
