As we’re not all blessed with natural pearly whites, some of us will in time turn to products that ‘claim’ to actually help in our mission to achieve whiter teeth than whatever shade they may be at present.
Despite reading a few reviews lately about various products that assist in the whitening process, I’ve yet to try anything other than a good old whitening toothpaste.
I purchased my last partner in crime about 3 weeks ago from my local Poundland store and this was:
[AQUAFRESH WHITENING TOOTHPASTE]
{packaging}
I opted for the pump version as for starters I thought it was a bargain for £1, it’s easier to store in the bathroom as it will stand quite happily on its own in the corner and you avoid the sticky mess that forms around the cap (ultimately blocking it up) that you get with the standard tubes.
The outer plastic wrapper is silver and white with the Aquafresh logo and traditional red/white/blue stripes, whitening written on the lid and all the necessary blurb you need to know on the reverse.
The pump is also recyclable so make sure you take advantage and do your bit!
{claims}
Aquafresh whitening claims that it gets teeth whiter and keeps them whiter due to the following:
-Whitening micro-particles and Triclene gently remove more stains -It gives you strong, whiter teeth -It helps prevent new stains forming
And as for the stripes the red aims for healthy gums, the white, strong white teeth and the blue, a nice fresh breath!
{where can you buy it}
This product is available in most supermarkets, however if you keep your eyes peeled in your local Poundland, 99p or Savers stores as they often sell these leading products for a snippet of what you would pay in your local supermarket.
{how to use}
Brush the recommended twice daily and with fingers crossed you should see a noticeable difference within 28 days of continuous use.
It is not recommended for use on children under 7 years of age, but if you do let your child under 7 use this product, then only a pea sized amount is to be used and an adult must supervise to minimise swallowing.
{caution}
If any irritation is experienced, discontinue use of the toothpaste.
{my opinion}
Well… I can’t say hand on heart that despite having almost finished this pump that I’ve noticed any colour change towards the whiter side on my teeth, they’re certainly not pearly white!
The taste is pleasant and refreshing, doesn’t leave ‘bits’ in your mouth or awkward smudges stuck to your teeth once rinsed. Leaves your mouth feeling pleasantly clean and your breath minty fresh.
Unfortunately as with all pump action products, the pump can tend to be a little temperamental at times getting stiff and refusing to expel any toothpaste, but with a simple push on the inner tube it gets things moving along again nicely.
You don’t need too much of this to provide enough for a quality clean, a simple single layer covering the length of your toothbrush is ample.
So in all, it cleans, freshens and leaves your breath fresh but as for the other claims of giving you stronger whiter teeth and preventing new stains forming, I really can’t comment as I’ve yet to see any of these on my teeth and to be honest have now given up holding my breath.
For just £1 I won’t moan any further as after all it does it’s initial job and that is, it cleans your teeth!
Definitely worth it’s money, just don’t expect any spectacular results, I’d be more inclined to try a whitening kit if you really are serious about changing the appearance colour of your teeth and not to rely on a mere old toothpaste.

A bit disappointing that it doesn't seem to do as it claims, still for your £1 it's still a good buy. Think I'll stick to Colgate, but like you I don't find that any 'whitening' toothpastes really work. Good, well written review, easy to read, well set out!
