This is an excellent product. With up to 160gb storage, there is ample room for all your favourite songs, movies and photos etc. If you want a lot of entertainment on the move, then this is perfect. At times, the archos can be slow, but this is expected with any hard drive based media player. It is considerably bigger than an iPod touch and is not as sleek, however, for me, I need lots of storage and the iPod Touch's 32GB is not nearly enough. The touch screen is very good for internet browsing and flicking through photos, but the choice to include buttons was a good idea. Sometimes when you are listening to music, you do not need to activate the screen again, so you can just use controls on the side of the device to make your life easier.
However, despite the excellent media functions, there are some things which I don't think are made particullarly clear to the buyer and that is that you have to pay extra for the web browser, the extra audio codec and podcast format. These are quite expensive considering that you have already paid a lot for the device. I recommend the web browser, but if you do not listen / watch podcasts then the podcast plug-in is useless and you might aswell save a bit of money. The audio codec is only good if you watch a lot of movies. The sound quality is very good through headphones, however, the speaker quality is poor when playing at full volume.
I recommend the Archos 605 WiFi to people that NEED the extra storage, however, if you have under 32GB of media that you will put on the device, the I suggest you go for the iPod Touch or iPhone.
