the archos 704 tv in my opinion is an excellent divice in the archos portable video range. it is a generation 4 device on thier website. it is the replacement to the older archos av700. it has a 7 inch screen and is of a very acceptable resolution. it can be filled with media from the included usb b cable or can act as a usb host, whitch i think is a very useful feature. the optional dvr station (around £60) is great and i would recommend it. a usb hard drive can be added and it makes the archos function in a way like a high capacity hdd recorder. upon picking up the archos the first thing you realise is that it is a very metallic and solidly built device. then you would realise the absance of buttons. this can be annoying as you will need to use the stylus a lot. for example if pausing or ajusting volume. this can be time consuming and annoying. after the first asthetic impressions you turn the device on, this is when you realise the wide range of features of the device. the best of whitch, if you can get it is the digital tv. this is a plan for the future nesesarrily as dtv isnt yet available in good enough quality yet. and the in built ariel has no effect where i live. making and playing videos couldnt be easier you can record off the television. direct off some camcorders or from the range of media avalible on computers. the format i prefer to use on it is the .avi extension. it is the native format of telly recordings and you can rip dvd's into this format( it may not allways be legal, please do not copy restricted content without permission of the copyright holder) overall i use this device only for video, that is why i havnt commented on the music or picture fuctions. i think personally that it is better than the wi fi version as you do not have to buy an add on of software to use it. it has excellant battery life and to this date i havent ran the battery out on journeys on cars planes ect. thank you for your time
Welcome to Ciao. I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion? There was a lot of information in your review but it was quite hard to read all bunched up together. Reviews that are broken up into smaller paragraphs and have a blank space between them are easier for others to read and it also gives a nice overall look to the review. I bought one of these from QVC and while the picture quality was great it couldn't receive all the digital channels QVC being one of them! Welcome to ciao x
A helpful first review, welcome to Ciao. Have a lot at other reviews to get an idea of what makes an even better review, and watch things like capital letters at the start of sentences. i find it helps to write reviews in Word first. Hope this helps! MaryX
The overall rating of a review is different from a simple average of all individual ratings.
