The Archos 605 WiFi has many features such as the option to record from the television, to surf the internet, it even has the ability to be used as a GPS. One downside is a lot of these features require additional money to be spent.
If you're a gamer then you might be a little disappointed by the fact that the with the Archos 605 you will be limited to only playing flash games. The Archos 605 basically just isn't a gaming device. If gaming is your main focus then you would be better off with a sony PSP or the GP2X.
You can also store/view pictures, which is a pretty ordinary feature on such a device but still appreciated.
The touchscreen though not completely necessary in most cases does seem to work pretty well.
One thing I did notice about the Archos 605 is that the sound quality of the inbuilt speaker is pretty poor ...

I've always been interested in these types of media packages whether it's HD quality or Blu-ray quality. The 704, is HD quality. HD (High Definition) is now on most audio/visual models whether it's a feature for a TV or devices such as this one. The display quality is 800 x 480 dpi (dots per inch) For a 7 inch screen this is a high specification and it shows while viewing digital media. The fact that it can store up to 160GB of memory is as much as a modern PC.
For those of you who have a quick broadband it is much more efficient to originally download media files via your PC, then transfer them to the portable 704 ...

One of the main advantages of this PVR is that it has a 160GB hard drive, imagine what you can store on that. You need a separate docking station to record from the TV or sattelite box and it is an extra £69 unless you buy this from QVC, they include it.
Clearly the reason for purchasing this is to record and watch videos and you can record a huge number of DVDs on to it. The draw bck is that it has digital rights protection and that stops you playing back on to other televisions; you can only watch it on the Archos if the DVD had the protection built in.
It is easy to set up to record TV or to watch it on TV, but I noticed it distorted images from my PACE sattelite box. On other boxes and digital freeview it recorded and played back perfectly. The images andsound are clear.
