Advantages: A great gadget Disadvantages: Can only listen to one track
This gadget is really just like a mini computer. There are icons featured on the LCD screen for you to easily navigate your way around the gadget.
The G-Mini is not really that small though. Even though it says it is portable, this is still bigger than a phone and bigger than most MP3 players you will find these days that come in little sticks.
The memory space avaiable is 20GB which means you can hold up to ... ...size and quality of the tracks you want on it. Apart from MP3's you are able to store photos but only able to view them in greyscale which can put people off since there are now coloured camera phones.
I managed to pay £199.00 for this phone after shopping around. I would highly advise you do this because I have seen it for prices up to £249!!

The memory space avaiable is 20GB which means you can hold up to 5000 songs , but that all depends on the length, size and quality of the tracks you want on it. Apart from MP3's you are able to store photos but only able to view them in greyscale which can put people off since there are now coloured camera phones.

Surprisingly, this little thing is very light - I would say it is even lighter than my phone!
Of course with an MP3 player, you need the software for your computer and this one comes with the best - MusicMatch Jukebox Plus. I did own another MP3 player when I was younger which only had 64KB of space (enough for 8 songs!!) and it came with the original MusicMatch Jukebox. I'm very glad I have this again because it is easy to navigate your way around, easy to install and more importantly, easy to Uninstall! The Jukebox easily converts your Wav. etc. tracks into MP3 format so it is easy to listen to the songs.
Compared to my old MP3 player (which was unbranded) this has the ultra-fast USB 2 interface meaning I can upload songs to it in seconds! If you think about it, you can store 500 albums on to this little baby whcih can seem a little pointless at times since you are only able to listen to one song at a time!
System requirements: You do need Windows 98 or above with 64 MB RAM - recmmended. With that you obviously need to have a CD-ROM drive to install the software and this player uses a USB port rather than my old one which needed a LPPT (Printer port).
In the packaging you will receive the player, a USB cable, adapter, rechargable battery, audio cable, headphones, the MM Jukebox software and a manual which is very easy to understand so you should have no problems.
The battery normally lasts 100 songs depending on how much you play with the LCD screen icons, etc. Not bad!
Advantages: Very compact, very cool and great memory for size Disadvantages: Image functionality isn't that useful - better to go for the Archos AV480
...entire music collection on this Archos without any trouble. Sound reproduction is very good (although obviously this'll change depending on the bit-rate you choose to encode at and your headphones!).
Simple USB 2.0 access and drag and drop song transfer make it a doddle uploading content. A word of warning here, though, the ability to hold and view visual content isn't that valuable - the screen is too small for it to be anything more than a bit ... ...great and for something this size to hold so much music (and present it so well) amazes me. However, if you want a device that has a big enough screen to bring pictures and videos to life then I recommend the Archos AV480 - it's a fair bit bigger though! ...

Advantages: Small, Neat, Easy to copy songs to, Flash card reader is a bonus Disadvantages: Buttons too small, confuses buttons
This is my second mp3 player, and my second by archos. I bought this one as the last one was brilliant but failed to work after the 4xAA batteries leaked all over it. This one has the small Lithium Ion batteries that are standard now. The size of this one is very neat and comparable to the iPod, slightly shorter but also slightly thicker. Copying/Connectivity

Can also be used as an USB drive for storing documents on or any type of files really.
Problems
-------------
There are only problems I've experienced is it's more prone to jumping, sticking than my previous mp3 player. (The last one didn't even jump ...

Advantages: Compact Flash Drive, Fitted to hand, Large memory capacity, Picture Viewer, Data Storage Disadvantages: Prone to hard-disk failure, Mildly slow, Button functions occasionally mix up.
...However, according to the Archos website, the Gmini is capable of lasting 10 hours on one recharge of its built-in Li-on battery. This claim must have been recorded under extremely strict conditions as mine only lasted anywhere from 2 to 6 hours every charge. Also, even though I did take much precaution with my GMini, the fact that it is not supplied with a case, and the only case available which lets you use the GMini whilst inside costs £70, makes ...

Advantages: Compact for a 20Gb player, robust, simple interface, CF port for memory cards Disadvantages: Must use musicmatch software for full ARClibrary functionality,
Overall the Archos 220 is a good little mp3 player. I've had it a little under a year now and it has held up fairly well. I had a problem with the hard drive recently and had to return it for replacement, but this was fairly painless and I got the unit back pretty quickly. Battery life is reasonable, sound quality is excellent. It can plug in to any modern PC system with a mini-USB cable and be used as a portable harddrive to copy any sort of file ... ...so you can use the archos as a storage device whilst travelling, and take higher resolution photos without having to worry about runing out of space on the card, or having to delete half of the photos you take.
A little annoying problem with the 220 is that there is no separate power port. You have to use a little adaptor which plugs into the mini-usb, which you can then plug the power adaptor and a data cable into. Even though the power goes in ...
