Ok the Archos MP3 player has loads of features in this review im going to tell you about them and the bad points.
Ok lets get started with the system requirments because we dont want you buying something that is not going to work.
The System Requirments are simple but it's better safe than sorry
For PC's: Pentium 233 MHz or higher, windows 98, SE, ME, 2000. 32 MB RAM (64 recommended). CD-ROM drive w / digital audio extraction support. USB port.
For MAC: MAC OS 8.6 or higher. iMac, G3 or higher. USB Manager virsion 1.2 or higher
Ok system requirments all done now onto the features and my expeirances (good and bad). ------------------------------------------------ Archos
Transfer Speeds (IN + OUT): ------------------------------------------------ The Archos has a built-in 10 GB HDD (hard disc drive) with a 2MB internal buffer for high speed data transfer into and out of the MP3 player.
Actually the transfer speed to the computer is 1MB/sec and a song is only 4MB so it take around 4 seconds to transfer which is very fast. And if you think obout it u could go round your mate house and copie you music to his PC.
And from the computer to the MP3 is 160Kbps wich is not that fast but it is always slower going out of the PC it's that way with any MP3 player that is one good tip for you already. --------------------------------------- What File Dose Archos Play --------------------------------------- The Archos can playback all digital music file so if you want to save some space on the HDD you would use WAVE files wich are a lot smaller than MP3's files. Also MP3 fies can be converted to lower quality if you only have software for MP3 convershion this software comes in the box (WAVE file convirshion software dose not). -------------------------------- Shock Resistant Sides -------------------------------- Now this is one of the features i like the best it has saves my Archos so many times from my wooden flooring. The sides are made from re-inforced rubber in other words they are like springs lol. You can change them if they break they just screw off. ---------------- Battery Life ---------------- This is one of my bad expeirances the battery live they say it runs for ten hours but that is a lie because it lasts 5 hours max considering how much money you pay i think this is a really bad thing. Will they do give you two batterys so it mixed imotion really. -------------------- Sound Quality -------------------- The sound quality is excellent (stereo sound) you can even set your own sound settings high bass low bass whatever suits you really - this has to be the best feature for me anyway. --------------------- Other Features --------------------- The LCD screen has a back light display so you can see the screen in the dark this is very helpful
You can also use Archos as a voice recorder and you can save pics and contact numbers you can even store you pc games on the Archos HDD and take them round your mates house
---------------------------------- What Comes In The Box ---------------------------------- AC/DC adapter for charging the batteries
USB cable to transfer data between PC / Archos HDD
Stereo heasphones
Carrying pouch
Software on CD
Manual in five languages ---------------------------------------- Where Do You Get One From ---------------------------------------- You will pick one of these up from most good electrical stores like PCWorld and you can also get one a bit cheeper from E-Bay ------- Price ------- You are looking from 180 - 200 pounds
Good review. The player sounds okay. Not something I'd want. I got the impression it was super tough from the picture and you comfirmed it. Looks a bit weird imho though. Battery life doesn't sound so good and for that price, I'd look into something else. Yeah, was gonna say the same as Connoisseur there. .WAV is MUCH bigger than MP3. They're only smaller when they're short sound clips. An MP3 length WAV file would be like 30 - 40MB. Nice review anyway.

Hi, theres a mistake in your review you said :"The Archos can playback all digital music file so if you want to save some space on the HDD you would use WAVE files wich are a lot smaller than MP3's files."______ WAVE Files are BIGGER than MP3 files as they are UNCOMPRESSED. Mp3 files are smaller as they're compressed and save space , hence the idea of an mp3 player!. Hope you didn't mind me pointing that out. Hope you find the site useful!-CH
