Archos Pocket Media Assistant 400 30 GB

I purchased this product when my old mp4 player failed on me after less than a year, so i was sceptical about buying a new product, due to the large price tag they carry. So far so good i have had it for over 5 months and it is yet to give me a single problem.

The pma400 was a bit fiddly to get used to the interface as it has only 9 buttons which are used to control a massive varieity of functions, however it does'nt take that long to master and the touch screen comes in very usefull enabling easy entry of text and navigation around the screen. There are a number of different functions and applications that the product features from playing audio files to processing text documents anconnecting to the internet.
The mp3 player is top notch and the shuffle feature is excellent you get a good mix of music umlike some others which end up shuffling the same songs over again.
The movie player is ace and recently came in very handy on a long journey. The pma400 can be relatively easily connected to a tv or dvd player and can be used in essence as a tivo box using the supplied tv craddle which allows you to link it to a tv and can record programmes and set to auto record set shows.
The unit comes with support for downloading new programmes and can also play games, however the site for downloading new games is not up and running yet but the demos supplied show great promise.
The unit is not only a tool for entertainment but also has all the functionality of a pda with wifi built in word processing calculator email and web browser.
It also has one feature that is especially handy and that is a removable battery sounds silly but with spare batteries relatively cheap it is easy to more than double the time it can be used for which is handy if you plan on using it for playing video files as a full battery only has charge for about 4 hours of video playback.
The pma is a versatile tool and well worth the investment although a costly one yopu will not be dissapointed and if you are you can always return it within 28 days so youv'e nothing to lose by trying, well better than the leading mp3 player (which is ass)
