...I purchased my Archos QDISK about 12 months ago from a well known TV Shopping Channel, since then its price has fallen somewhat.
This portable harddrive requires no driver for Windows XP or Windows 2000/ME. You simply plug the USB cable into your PC and away you go, it acts just as your local harddrive in that it appears as a Hard Disk Drive with a drive letter when you go to "My Computer".
You can store absolutely anything on this portable harddrive and it seems as though you never run out of space, I am yet to use half of the 60 Gigabytes because there are no operating system files etc.
The QDISK is also great for laptop computer users as it can fit into a laptop case, depending on your case size. However you will probably need some means of strapping to keep it secure.
I take my QDISK on Holiday with my laptop and upload all...

Advantages: Quick transfer speed, Disadvantages: Fairly Bulky
...What can i say this is an internal had-drive which obviously integrates within a computer system. Nowadays 80GB is not enough for anyone as programs are now increasing in size due to their complexity and what they have to offer.
A harddrive is a non-volatile storage device which stores digitally encoded data on rapidly rotating platters with magnetic surfaces. Non-volatile storage is simply the name given to a storage device which can retain stored data even when not powered. With a volatile storage device being one that can not retain saved data e.g. RAM (Random Access Memory).

This particular hard...

Advantages: Fast Small and 80GB! Disadvantages: Nothing really
...After getting myself into the whole iMovie and DV camcorder thang, I realised that the tiny harddrive (10 Gb) in my iBook was not enough (1 hour of DV footage takes up 13 Gb), so I started looking for alternatives.
As Firewire is the only high speed connection on the laptop, I looked around. Most 30-40GbHarddrives for Firewire (Also Sony i.Link) were £250, but I saw this one by Maxtor - 80Gb for under £350.
The Box is smaller than I thought, and Graphite and ice to match the iBook, but it does come with an ugly and propriety power supply.
Very fast was my first reaction. It can stream DV footage without any dropped frames - and thats 5 Mbytes/s. So, unless you are doing pro DV or something really demanding there is no point in buying the 75Gbdrives out there that cost over £700 - the extra little bit of speed is really...
