Advantages: Quiet, Cheap, Effective cooler Disadvantages: Can be tricky to fit in some cases
...around 50 degrees on the stock AMD cooler, but after adding this it reduced it by around 10 degrees so it was now idling at around 40, i was surprised it was this effective. An interesting feature of this heatsink & fan is the fact that instead of sucking air away from the cooler and out the case it sucks air from outside the case and blows it down onto the CPU, this apparently helps cool the CPU better and keeps the areas around the CPU from getting too hot. Clever feature
Noise wise it is fairly quiet (quieter than the stock cooler). It has been tested @ 2000 rpm to give off around 40 decibels. This quietness is due to the fact the fan is 92mm in diameter so it doesnt have to spin as fast to shift the same volume of air as a smaller one.
Fitting the fan is very easy, if a little fiddly if your case is small. All you need to do is remove...

Good Fast CPU Review ofIntel Core 2 Duo E6600 / 2.4 GHz processorby
tamss
Advantages: Fast and can Cope with anything I've thrown at it easily Overclockable. Disadvantages: New range of Intel CPUs are cheaper and faster
...a DVD or convert a video which would have been impossible previously on a single core CPU.
The E6600 works at 2.4GHZ out of the box but with the right Motherboard and cooling can be easily pushed past 3GHZ and with water cooling up to 4GHZ. For a Motherboard for overclocking i would recommend the Asus P5B series and for cooling the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro is a great and cheap choice.
With a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro I get idle temps of 35 degrees C and under full load up to 45 degrees C
This is probably this CPUs weakest aspect as the recently released range of Core 2 Duos the E6*50 range are cheaper and faster than the E6*00 range. At the moment the E6600 can be purchased for around £140 whereas the E6750 which is slightly faster can be picked up for around £120. The only downside to these new range of Intel...

Advantages: Very cool, easy to install Disadvantages: copper on the cpu side far from mirror ( needs a polish )
...Test system:
processor - AMD Athlon FX62 (2 x 2800 MHz / 125W TDP)
motherboard - ASUS M2N32 DeLuxe Wireles Edition (passive cooling system with HeatPipe)
Cooler is very easy to install just one lever.
More experienced users will probably remove thermal compound and polish the surface of the cooler ( it is far from being a mirror ) and then apply high quality thermal compound.
This will give You another 1-2 C less and faster cooling down after stress.
all tests were done using Zalman STG 1 ( high quality thermal compound )

Temperature readings after 60 minutes in 100% load:

I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did.
The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air... more

I recently upgraded my CPU to a retail version AMD 64, that comes with the standard cooler and fan. I found it to be very noisy and decided I needed a quieter CPU cooler. After looking at various options, and not having lots to spend, I decided on the... more
