...spend, I decided on the Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra TC that retails at under £10.00. This heatsink is suitable for socket 754/939/940 AMD Athlon CPU's, BUT is 15mm wider than the standard heatsink, so make sure there is room on your motherboard before ordering one.
The box that the it comes in also contains a motherboard retention module, a tube of Artic cooling MX-1 High performance thermal compound, a case sticker and a small sheet of notes, ... ...are printed on the back of the box.
The cooler.
The heatsink itself is made of aluminum. It is a fin design with a block at the bottom. The base is very shiny with no visible scratches. I just gave it a quick dry polish to clean off any residue from manufacturing.
On the top is a black 87mm fan in a 92mm cage. The mounting has an openplan design and instead of sitting in a little tunnel, the fan is suspended from a cage, with four legs that hold ...

Silencer 64 Ultra features the low speed 92 mm fan that reduces the noise level to a minimum. The patented fan holder is able to practically eliminate the typical buzzing sound of 92 mm fans. The Temperature Control uses a thermally regulated fan system. For regulation, the temperature of the heatsink is measured, which corresponds over a correction curve directly with the CPU core temperature. In contrast to the control over the air temperature the method used by arctic cooling is more complex, but substantially more precise, which lowers average noise levels and utilizes the temperature bandwidth of the CPU more effectively. The huge heatsink helps to spread the heat and achieves a high cooling performance at minimum airflow. In the high performance range of coolers, this cooler is counted as featherweight with less than 450 g, it allows avoiding mainboard socket problems. Thanks to the airflow important height of just 47 mm, this cooler can also be used in a low profile PC case. The cooler is to install without any tools within seconds.

I bought this cooler a few months back now so have had a long experiance using it, so far it has amazed me.
My idle temperatures of my CPU went down around 10 degrees from the stock AMD cooler and my temperature at full load went down even more!... more
I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did.
The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air... more
Here comes the sixth studio album by who many consider as one of, it not the, biggest rock band on the planet at the moment - The Foo Fighters. But how does "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" fair with it's predecessors?
