icy grave. When Dirk Pitt of NUMA is blown to pieces in a lab explosion, he suspects sabotage. The lab in question belongs to a scientist hoping to use a rare mineral to combat greenhouse gases, but who would want to destroy our one chance to save the planet?
Advantages: Fast action, lots of history Disadvantages: Maybe weaker character development and writing than previous Cussler books
Serpent is a novel by thriller writer CliveCussler. For those familiar with the works of Cussler, they normally involve a character called Dirk Pitt, but this book marks the arrival of a new character, Kurt Austin. The book is the first in the NUMA series of books, of which more have since been released since this title was published.
The basic plot is that a group called "The Brotherhood" try to wipe from
the record the evidence that they had been contact in the past between the New and Old Worlds. Kurt Austin, Cussler's new character, is the boss of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).
The book begins with the destruction of the SS Andrea Doria and MS Stockholm, before jumping forward in time to new conflicts around the world. Austin saves the life of the archaeologist, Nina Kirov, who then helps in his tasks ...
Advantages: Great series Disadvantages: Can't put it down
Inca gold is one of many Clivecussler books involving a character named Dirk Pitt. these are my favourite series of books written by Cussler as i feel that i have grown to know Dirk Pitt. He is a persons ideal image of how a Character in this sort of book should be, Strong, Bold,Great with women ^^ .
Any way the stories mainly revolve around the same sort of pattern. an Intro which tells you of an event inm the past in which something was discovered, desrtoyed , lost or just about anything. Then the sories follow the path of Dirk Pitt an ex airforce pilot who was recruited by NUMA (national underwater marine agency) as their special projects director. he has many near death experiences in which you feel for the character and their emotions.
Inca Gold and the other CliveCussler books are light reads for anyone who is interested ...
Advantages: 2nd in the series, gripping plot, based in real-world fact Disadvantages: Not as long as those later in the series
The blend of real-world fact and fiction adds weight an dcontact to this, the second in CliveCussler's Dirk Pitt series. Set some time after the first installment, The Pacific Vortex, this book is a separate story in itself, with only minimal references to it's predecessor. It is not necessary to have read it prior to reading this.
I read the electronic version of the book, wich totals 75 pages and weighs in at just under 80,000 words making it a novel-length read. The personalities of the main characters have been re-inforeced and developed from the first book. Unlike many stories, and indeed many of the later books in the series, there are only 3 main characters in this plot, alongside Dirk and his co-conspirator Jeordino. The friendly banter between them adds character to the story, so it is not just all action and no humour ...
