Manufacturer's product description
The Silencer T-Series is the first PC Tower case, which in terms of thermodynamics does not follow the ATX standard of the mid 1990s. This case was developed from scratch based on the idea of noise reduction and optimal thermodynamic properties. Warm air emitted from the CPU cooler rise unhindered towards the top of the case blown out of the case via 2 temperature-controlled fans spinning at max. 1900 RPM. This stops the CPU cooler from simply churning the same warm air over and over again. Cool air is drawn inside the case towards the CPU cooler and expansion cards. This allows for the temperature of sensitive components to decrease significantly. The power supply is cooled via 2 temperature controlled fans spinning at max.1900 RPM. Thanks to the lower position of the power supply a smaller airflow is sufficient for cooling. The case has been designed from start with the goal to reduce the noise to an absolute minimum. Openings to the front of the case were intentionally left out. Air exhaustion and power supply cooling have been configured for a high end PC, despite this high-end configuration the system operates virtually silent. Audio In and Out as well as two USB 2.0 connectors are included in the front bezel. The IEEE 1394 (FireWire) connector is optional. An aluminum frame muffles the hard drive noise and at the same time keeps it cool. The suspended frame stops vibrations from carrying over on to the chassis.

Advantages: Very cool, easy to install Disadvantages: copper on the cpu side far from mirror ( needs a polish )
...Test system:
processor - AMD Athlon FX62 (2 x 2800 MHz / 125W TDP)
motherboard - ASUS M2N32 DeLuxe Wireles Edition (passive cooling system with HeatPipe)
Cooler is very easy to install just one lever.
More experienced users will probably remove thermal compound and polish the surface of the cooler ( it is far from being a mirror ) and then apply high quality thermal compound.
This will give You another 1-2 C less and faster cooling down after stress.
all tests were done using Zalman STG 1 ( high quality thermal compound )

Advantages: Cheap, Effective, Lightweight. Disadvantages: No manual speed control, Size could be a problem on some boards.
...I recently upgraded my CPU to a retail version AMD 64, that comes with the standard cooler and fan. I found it to be very noisy and decided I needed a quieter CPU cooler. After looking at various options, and not having lots to spend, I decided on the ArcticCooling Silencer 64 Ultra TC that retails at under £10.00.
This heatsink is suitable for socket 754/939/940 AMD Athlon CPU's, BUT is 15mm wider than the standard heatsink, so make sure there is room on your motherboard before ordering one.
The box that the it comes in also contains a motherboard retention module, a tube of Artic cooling MX-1 High performance thermal compound, a case sticker and a small sheet of notes, that is printed in English and German. The fitting instructions are printed on the back of the box.
The cooler.
The heatsink itself is made of aluminum...

Worth its weight in silver? Review ofQuietPC Arctic Silver 5 High Density Silver Thermal Compound (3.5g)by
prosser13
Advantages: Great thermal conductor Disadvantages: Expensive, hard to spread
...is applied properly though, it is well worth buying some AS5. I moved from a generic compound (the kinda white stuff you buy at Maplins) to AS5, and found that using exactly the same cooling setup my temperatures dropped by 3C at idle and 6C at load! I have read about something called Shin Etsu, which supposedly can drop load temperatures by 8C, but at double the price I didn't think that 2C was worth it.
Notes
Please note that whatever is said, it is NOT true that AS5 is extremely electrically conductive. If you get some on the pins of your CPU, just use some TIM Remover or some pure alchol and a paint brush and the CPU should be fine!
Also, temperatures generally decrease the longer the TIM has been applied for, so if there is not much change try running a program or programs such as Prime95, which will keep your CPU at 100% - this helps...

I bought this cooler the other day on Amazon and it arrived today, thankfully 20 minutes after my new cpu did.
The first thing that struck me was that the fan is positioned to the side of the heatsink rather than on top of it. Thus blowing hot air... more
I bought this cooler a few months back now so have had a long experiance using it, so far it has amazed me.

Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) is one of the most recommended TIM (thermal interface materials) by enthusiasts. Its made using actual silver, which is pretty cool, and it does look pretty cool when it comes out of the tube.
