Advantages Cheap, holds bottles

Disadvantages Not for display

We like wine in our house and drink quite a lot. We are members of the BA wine club which delivers bottles to your door every three months or so, a great way to receive wine and lots of fun as you can choose the wine you want or let them decide for you so it is great to open the box and see the choices you have that month. Now, however, at the moment I am pregnant so our little wine collection has suddenly grown to quite a stack as I am not drinking it at the moment so we needed somewhere a bit better to store it than behind the bin under our kitchen worktop which is where is had been going. This was an ok place but we wanted to be able to stack the bottles up as we were getting too many to just make one level on the floor and we wanted them to be a bit safer than just there on the floor. As this was a place that the wine bottles were not going to be seen and displayed per say we were not too fussed about the quality of the wine rack and decided to purchase a £4.99 wooden rack from Argos.

I'm glad we didn't need to worry about what it looked like because this is not a rack that you would display at home and be proud of but that saying it does its primary job, to hold wine bottles, and does it satisfactorily. The wine rack came flat packed so we, I mean my husband had the task of assembling it once we got home. This was not actually hard as it's easy to figure out as the whole rack just makes a square and you can stack different bits on top of each other and then just finish it off with wood glue. The rack measures, H32, W32, D18cm and so fits nicely under our worktop and allows us easy access to the wine when we need to get it.

The wood is quite a light wood and unfinished as well so if you did want to display it I would assume that you would want to paint it or do something with it but for us it was fine the way it was. As the wood is quite light this rack is quite flimsy so I never really fill it to its full capacity as I'm not sure whether it would topple over or not. There is no backing to the rack, it is basically just open holes for the bottles to rest in so what I do is back it up against the wall at the back to give it a bit more stability. If you wanted a better one I would definitely recommend a metal rack which in my opinion are way more sturdier but to store some bottles out of view this has been an ok product.

Well reviewed, we used to have something similar to this - just made out of wood so it wasn't for display.
