I've had an argos card since they first bought them out around 8 years ago, as I found having a store card to Argos was very useful, you never know what you might need and if you haven't got the cash for what you need then it could end up being a problem. Having an Argos card give you the ability to purchase more or less anything that you may need to replace in an emergency and is relatively cost effective too.
When enrolling for an Argos card, you go through the normal credit procedure to ensure that you are eligible to have a card, depending on your credit history and also to set your credit limit on your card. Initially I was given a ridiculous limit which is what credit card companies do to try and get your into debt as they benefit from the interest that they receive when you only pay the minimum payment. I had my account capped at £1000, which enables you to spend safely and not overdo it too much.
Argos, as with other credit card companies actually give you the option of what design you would like on your creditr card, not that this matters at all because it sits in your purse or wallet and does it really matter what it looks like at the end of the day. However they give you three options to choose from as your design on the card.
The Argos card offers many benefits, I feel more so than other card companies, you regularly receive newsletters with your statements with money off vouchers when you £50, it goes on normal credit in which you have 30 days to pay before you start to get charged interest on the purchase. However if you spend over certain amounts, you can obtain up to 3 months and 6 months interest free credit, and they always make you aware when this period is about to expire so that you can pay it off if you want to and avoid any interest being charged.
Statements are forwarded on a monthly basis that detail your account number, credit limit, details on any recent purchases that you have made, details of normal credit and also details of what you have on 3 month or 6 month terms, minimum payment and account balance.
There are various options of how to pay your account. The easiest option is to pay by direct debit, in which they will take your minimum payment every month or a particular sum of money that you request to be debited. You can pay via online banking with your own bank or by giro at their particular bank and ost office without being charged.
I find the Argos card extremely useful when you are in need of something pretty quick. I only use it in emergencies and don't take advantage of it too much. It comes in use around Christmas when people may have a lot of expenditure and you just want a little longer to pay off what you spend over Christmas. Its one of the better options if you feel you need a card to help you out.
Payment Protection is available which is £1.30 for every £100 that you spend, this covers you if you become unemployed or sick and are unable to pay the amounts that are due. I don't actually have payment protection on mine, however if you are a bit uncertain its always good to take it out.
Advantages: Works wel Disadvantages: can be used wrongly
The Argos Card......
The Argos Card is a store card where you can purchase items from that store on a buy now pay later type scheme. The scheme ranges from your small purchases where you can have over a months grace to pay off the item or the larger amounts where you can have 3 months, 6 months, 9 months or even a 12-month interest free period on the purchase price.
The main reason I when ahead and applied for this card was that we were just moving ... ...sofa from Argos and agreed we would be better putting the sofa on this card and paying for it in 9 months when are finances were a little better. Because it would cost us nothing to use the card as long as we paid the amount in full buy the time the agreement is up we decided this was the better option all round.
Getting the card was simple and after applying in store I received my new card within a few weeks. The sofa arrived and every month I ...

...national debt. The Argos card is somewhere in between.
I don't generally agree with store cards. They can offer one to anyone over 18 and they regularly do. I think store cards are a bad idea because they are so easy to get and use and thereofre build uphuge debts. Offering them to every person that comes in is wrong I think. Having them available for people to ask about is fair enough, but I think offering them to everyone is irresponsible as it ... ...I used to work for Argos and I was there when the Argos card scheme began. There were a few reasons for Argos having their own card, apart from the obvious benefits they have of a riduculously high APR of 25.9% that earns them lots of money. One was that the premier points scheme that used to be in conjunction with BP petrol stations was superceded by Nectar. So because Argos still had to give goods in exchange for points they had to find another ...

Advantages: Special Offers, Reward Points, Buy Now Pay Later Options Disadvantages: High APR
I first took out an Argos card a few years back as a bit of an emergency measure really. My mobile phone had broken and, yes it was that time of the month, a week before payday. Being the impatient person I am I wanted a new one, and I wanted it now! So after having a look through what at the time was quite a thin Argos catalogue, not like today’s one, I saw the details of their Argos card. So I figured that this would be a good idea.
After picking ... ...visiting www.argos.co.uk and clicking the Argos Card link at the very bottom of the page.
The card itself arrived within about 10 days which is pretty average for these sorts of things. Anyway I had already made my purchase. When you apply for the card you get the choice of 3 different card designs, one bright yellow with a duck on it, the second with a picture of to dolphins diving, and the third card is a boring plain blue card. Just to be different ...

Advantages: Can purchase and pay off items on interest free credit schemes Disadvantages: Very poor customer services
We have held an Argos card for 4 years. We have used it on approximately 4 ocassions during that time. We have used the card to make larger purchases on the interest free credit scheme which has until now worked fairly smoothly. Once we have purchased an item, we pay a small sum every month during the interest free term and then settle the balance. This week however, we had our 'fingers burnt'. Almost a year ago we purchased an item for almost £400 ... ...decided we would ask for Argos vouchers as gifts at our wedding during the year. I read the 'small print' and found nothing to suggest that vouchers would not be an acceptable form of payment. This week I called up to find out how we go about settling the balance in this manner. We were told this was not acceptable and that vouchers were only accepted over the counter for goods bought in store. I asked to speak to a Customer Services supervisor who ...

...a little stretched, so an argos card seemed like the perfect solution!
"Buy now, pay over 12 months" seemed a good idea! Reading the small print (while trying not to go blind) I thought okay, pay a bit each month, then there wont be too much left to pay at the end of the year!
Except that isnt how things turned out! Over 12 months I paid £270 of the balance, but at the end of the year I was £30 short of the total! Low and behold Argos added the ... ..."card services" I was informed ( by a disinterested and unhelpful operator.) that the agreement was "the whole balance should be paid in full prior to the end of the term or the whole years interest will be charged." I pointed out that I had understood the contract to be "a years interest will be incurred on the balance that remains outstanding at the end of the term." the operator then sneeringly informed me that I was wrong, it was all in the small ...

If you’re looking for any humour in this opinion, you won’t find it. I am not in a laughing mood. In fact, I am very angry. Let me explain…
It is my daughter’s 5th birthday tomorrow and as most of my family live 180 miles away, they have to send cards, money and vouchers through the post. Yesterday, I was expecting a card and £20 Argos voucher which my Dad had sent for her birthday. The envelope arrived but had obviously been torn down one side. Looking in, I saw the birthday card was there, but the voucher wasn’t. It had just been torn enough to remove the smaller voucher, but not enough for the larger card to come out.
I caught up the postwoman and complained and she said she would report it. I then rang Customer Services who were sympathetic, but said as it had not been sent Recorded Delivery ...

Advantages: Easier to budget, an option for people with poor credit Disadvantages: Not everywhere accepts it
everywhere, so I make sure that I either check beforehand, or take enough money to cover my purchase.
The card is accepted at (to name a few) ASDA, new Look, Spar, Safeway, Tesco, Ikea, ToysRUS, Next, Argos, HMV, Iceland and M&S. If they offer a cashback facility, you can also take advantage of that up to a fifty pound limit
It is not accepted at Boots, Etam, Aldi, WH Smith, Pizza Hut, Woolworths and Allsports. (Plus many more).
I have adapted to using this now, and it means that you can only buy what you can afford, which is the best idea all round I think.

Advantages: i do on line banking, quite good. Disadvantages: Too easy to get your money , I'm talking the bank making mistakes
I have been with the TSB for 0ver 12 years now. I find them mostly ok , the staff are friendly enough.
The only problem that I have had with them was when I had to go on reduced payments for my loan . The normal date of when payment used to out of my bank was the 19th of each month. When I went on reduced payments they changed the date to the end of the month.
Everything was O.K until they put me back onto full payments after six months and completly emptied my account of all monies.
What they actually do is put your payment date back to the original date without telling you then attempt to get all the arrears back all in one go.
This happened twice, I was in Argos at the time buying something for £10 when my Delta card wouldn't go through, they said I hadn't enough funds in. Rubbish I said my wage has just gone in.
Anyway I left ...
