This card is a typical store card in that you can usually sign up there and then in the shop for one. Which we tried to do because we were buying an expensive item and wanted to spread the cost interest free. However because at the time we were buying a house and had several checks made at same time we had to wair for our card to be sent through the post. so you may not get it there and then. So don't wait until you have to buy something straight away or you could have problems. It does have a high APR. (for a detail opinion on how you get card and designs see sarsons opinion)
Whilst the argos store card is very good in that you can earn points which are then used against future purchases. (It does take a while to build up points though!) It is also good to have a card because you get lots of special offers like 10% off.
However whenever we have tried customer services they have been very unhelpful. We tried on several occassions to get an extra card for myself as the original card was in my husbands name but I managed the account so really i needed a card. This was vertually impossible to obtain so we gave up.
However my biggest problem was when we went on holiday, we had a payment due which we always paid on time and cleared the balance in full (i was only using the card to get the points). However we were going on holiday so I asked someone to pay the bill on my behalf they forgot and only paid it the day it was due therefore the funds cleared a day late. As a consequence of this we were charged a late payment fee of £10 plus interest of £2. The bill was only for £22 so we paid over 50% interest. Obviously the charge was written somewhere in the small print so customer services refused to waive the fee even though for over 12 months we had never had a late payment. So beware if you have this card or set up a direct debit for the minimum payment each month so this never happens to you. Also we subsequently tried to cancel the card because of this and as yet customer services have not acted on this request 3 months later.

This was lovely overview of the product, minus a couple of important points. I hope you don't mind me mentioning them - I am not trying to criticse you, but rather help. I'm sure sarsons would disagree with me, but put those details you refer to in YOUR op rather than referring to another members. Oh, and if you still want to refer to another member's review (say, it compliments or supports your view on something) then put the URL in so readers can go straight to the piece in question. A little more explanation on what this points scheme thingy is would also be good. :)

I hate the way that the staff in Argos hassle customers to sign up for this all the time - in my local store they are obsessed! Lisa x

what is the apr and how do you collect the points and how do you use them? what about the application process, age limit and subject to status?
Advantages: We found none. We should have paid outright or got a pay monthly plan from Currys Disadvantages: Incompetent and rude staff, adding random charges and items to our account, harasing and stressful
