So for a cheap £2.50 I get 12 tabs to do my washing one for every wash! So that’s 12 washes at roughly 21p plus electric and water so not to bad to start with, now when they are not on special offer they are £3.89 per box of 12 working out at roughly 33p per wash plus the overheads now still fairly reasonable, however, at this point you do not know if they are any good do you?
This is where I come in to save the day as usual. I have tried and tested this product with every piece of washing imaginable, whites, denims, bed linen and towels. The results were outstanding.
Firstly let me give you a little info on the tablets and then we will talk about the washing!
The tablets are from the Ariel range of products produced by Procter & Gamble UK. Each tab contains 50ml of concentrated Ariel Liquid, so no need to measure, no mess and no need for a net.
You place the tabs into the drum of your washing machine before any wash goes in, once the wash has started and water hits the tab the coating dissolves leaving you with nothing but clean fresh laundry! What more can any budding house person ask for?
Someone else to do the wash for them! Would be nice but probably not in this lifetime!
You will only ever need 2 tabs if your wash is heavily soiled or you live in an area that has what is known as hard water. I always thought hard water was ice apparently not? However, there is a dosage guide on the box that let’s you know what you will need. Tabs will work at 30C, 40C, 60C and 95C with no problems at all.
Ingredients ~
Enzymes; Brightning Agents; with less than 5% Phophonates, Cationic surfactants; 15 – 30% Anionic surfactants, Non Ionic surfactants, and last of all but not least SOAP.
So that is a little info on the tabs what about the results?
Okay I will give you the results of Squidget’s very own doorstep challenge!
Towels ~
In this house towels are used all the time and the basket is always full of them! I like my towels to smell fresh and feel soft and look like new! Fluffy and light you know what I mean?
Well with just one tab and 6 towels carefully placed in the machine at 60C, I got down to the first test. I watched with anticipation as the drum flooded with water. As the machine began to swirl I was looking for the usual foam up that appears this was present but not as intense as tablets or powders!
The result? Fantastic, my towels felt like new and have a lovely clean fresh smell to them. I was fairly impressed to find that the sand paper hardness seemed to be removed from my towels, needless to say they still had to be dried which is when the stiffness sets in! So on the screens the towels went, following day still soft with only a little bit of an edge, first success for the tabs 8/10.
Denims ~
Again in this house denims are part of everyday wear and there seems to be an endless supply in the washing basket and never enough in the wardrobe.
So into the wash with 4 pairs of jeans all dark keeping in with the fashion of course and for a wash at just 40C always read the label!
The result were again very pleasing jeans smelt great and felt fabulous but still to dry so up they went draped over doors and screens to ensure they are dried evenly! They dried nice and soft and were very easy to iron. 8/10 for denims.
Bed Linen ~
What a perfect excuse to change the linen on the bed than a Dr J household consumer test.
1 fitted sheet, 1 duvet cover and 4 pillow cases always make up for a perfect wash and I always look forward to putting the end result back on to the bed!
Now this was Tuesday a beautiful day here in Edinburgh so I was delighted to find that I could hang my wash outside in the fresh air!
So on with the wash 40C (cool wash) with minimum spin, don’t know why but I always do this as it leaves a lot of the fabric conditioner essence in this way as it has not all spun out, however, don’t take this as a tip if you have really sensitive skin.
Again a great result but the white sheet had a certain sparkle to it! It was beautiful and white, maybe the sunshine playing havoc with my old eyes but it looked great outside on the line and is the kind of whites you want the neighbours to see! What am I like! The end results were fabulous and sleeping that night was like a dream nodded of with the nice cool fresh bedclothes helping along the way, an impressive 10/10.
And finally the big finale! The whites ~
Now I am like every house person (politically correct here you know!) and tend to be very picky about my whites especially my shirts for work and the white smalls!
So I bundled them all together 4 shirts, 2 T-shirts, 6 boxers and 12 pairs of socks and loaded them up into the machine. One tab at 40C and the wash began.
Now with this one I almost sat in front of the machine all the way through watching, sad yes! I do agree. But I worry about my whites. Now what I am about to tell you can only be true with bleach and the likes but nope it was just one tab!
I could see my whites whirling around in the drum and could visibly see them getting whiter before my very eyes, now in all my days doing laundry never have a I seen such fabulous results for my whites!
Anyway I still was in doubt I was wondering about the cuffs and collars of the shirts and the toes and heels of the socks. So waited with a cup of tea till the load finished.
Watching for the lock light to go out I was fanatically pulling at the door to get my whites out the machine. The shirts passed the collars and cuff test, but for the socks well they had little bits of the usual heel and toe stains on them but overall they were much better than when they went in and what they were after the previous wash with my now truly old detergent.
The whites passed me doorstep challenge and swayed about proudly in the wind for the neighbours! 10/10.
Overall a massive thumbs up form me on for these new beauties I will be popping round to Tesco’s later to see if they are still on offer and get some more while they are going cheap but when they go back to full price I will be more than happy to cough up the extra cash.

Have fun and remember no humans were injured or harmed in this test, just the neighbours envy!
Advantages: Easy to use, bloke friendly Disadvantages: Expensive
...am talking of course about Ariel Liquitabs.
I know you will think:
Typical Bloke,
Idiot,
fool etc, etc, but, this happens to be true:
My washing machine is possessed by unknown forces, no wait, it really is true.
I load it with washing, close the door, switch on the socket, press the buttons (there is loads of them and not really sure what I am doing) and switch on.
I have already placed the soap powder in the drawer compartment and it is ... ...the water goes down the other compartment! Next time I place soap powder in the other compartmnent and again the machine changes it's mind and pours water down the other compartment I was using before! See daft machine! Okay, Okay, so I don't know how to use the thing! Not really my fault it did not come with bloke proof operating instructions.
Now though, I have found a new weapon! Liquitabs! by Ariel! The force behind washing!!!
These little ...

...however, very glad I tried Ariel Liqui-Tabs. They are so easy to use, leave no residue and get the washing clean. They are a little more expensive than traditional powders but take up far less room. Marvellous technology from Procter and Gamble!
CLAIRE'S BOTTOM TEN TIPS
1 - Always sort your washing correctly into colours - nothing worse than grey smalls which should have been white;
2 - If it says dry clean only, there is a reason!
3 - Try to ... ...longer.
4 - Keep all detergents out of the reach of babies and small children - these tabs look like jelly….
5 - Look out for special offers on washing products in supermarkets - they don't go off and you know you'll need them.
6 - Iron cotton garments when still damp - it will make it easier.
7 - Use a good quality fabric conditioner, especially on synthetics.
8 - Wash new, coloured garments by hand the first time to check for colour ...

Advantages: Very convenient, no mess, good smell Disadvantages: A little expensive
...it's a new product called Ariel Liqui-tabs, and as the name suggests, they are tablets of liquid! Not just any old liquid mind, liquid detergent for washing your clothes. I know that might seem a bit messy, I mean it's OK for powder, but a liquid tablet sounds somewhat slimey, but the liquid is sealed inside a little plastic wrapper, so it doesn't dribble everywhere when you open the box! The main problem with using washing powder is that it gets ... ...over your hands. Ariel Liqui-tabs get round this problem. Basically, they are a pre-measured, 50ml amount of Ariel liquid sealed into a small water-soluble sachet. All you have to do when washing your clothes is put one of these into the drum, and voila, clean clothes an hour or so later, no mess, no fuss, no caustic powder on your hands! Brilliant. But I hear you cry, how can you get your clothes clean using liquid sealed into a plastic sachet. ...

Advantages: cleaness, freshness, easy to use, easy to store container, no mess Disadvantages: price
...buy. I came across the Ariel Liqui-tabs and was pretty cheap too, in fact they was the cheapest there, and thought I would give them a go. -: WHAT ARE LIQUI-TABS? :-
Liqui-tabs are little plastic pillows filled with liquid for your washer. I thought I would change to what I usually buy as I used to buy the wash tablets, but I find using the liquid tabs my washer as stayed cleaner also. People that use tablets and powder would know that the draw ... ...in a long time, I used to spill most of it on the floor, or it gets wasted in the draw.
I find using liquid-tabs are more easy to use, and better to use in my opinion, I would not go back to wash tablets, or even powder. With the liquid tabs you don't get waste, you don't get spillage and no residue either. Although they do cost more then your normal wash powder and tablets, which is the down side I guess. There is not a huge difference of washing ...

Advantages: They clean great and are easy to use Disadvantages: They are very expensive
...today I decided to try ariel liquitabs. The thing with powder tablets is they come wrapped in packets of 2 so a 10 wash pack would have 20 tablets in it. The advantage being not so dirty stuff you can cheat and use one tablet. Ariel liquitabs are individual. A 10 wash pack is what it says 10 pouches. The amount I paid was £1.99 for 10 tabs at Ice-land, normally £2.99 for 10, hence another reason to try them.
I would be great on the tv adverts trying ... ...in yellow across it and Ariel in red and a little pic of a liquitab.
Overall I really love this product but next time I may try ariel liquid as this is expensive. It would be great to use for the mucky boys stuff. If it is on offer again next week I will buy it again.
Please ignore the disinfecting bit on the bottom, havent a clue why that is there.
Happy washdays, Jane ...
