I have been using Ariel color for a couple or years now, and have found it a very satisfactory product. Don’t you just hate it when you have just paid out for a new outfit, some new clothes, you wear them a couple of times, and they all turn a pastel shade of white. That’s because you’re using the wrong washing powder. I used to just bung everything in the same powder, the cheapest I could get from the pound shops, or those places that sell everything in a barrel, Superscoopers or something. you get a scoop, and you shovel as much as you want in to a plastic sack and get it for half the price as a branded box (there’s a review in there somewhere).
Anyway this cheap stuff just ruins your clothes. Its ok for whites because it contains a lot of bleach, although bleaching is often mistaken for cleaning which it isn’t. Your expensive new clothes are ruined after a couple of washes, bleached out and spoiled. You’ve all seen the guy who doesn’t know how to wash his coloureds properly, walking down the street with his dayglow aura and his bleached out couture. It looks dreadful, and it really makes me laugh.
I just object to paying a small fortune for clothes which are a shadow of their former selves after a couple of washes. I am no Beau Brummel, or Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, but I like my clothes to last. This when I discovered that there is a different type of powder for coloureds than there is for whites, it does not contain any bleach and is specially formulated to wash coloureds without bleaching them. Hurrahh!.
There are many brands on the market, Ariel is just the first one I started using, and it worked for me and I suppose it is a case brand loyalty. I had a particularly expensive set of clothes at the time and I really wanted them to last. They were the best clothes I had bought for a while, and I did not want to spoil them by incompetent laundering. You know how it is when your favourite shirt gets destroyed in the wash a couple of hours before you wanted it. There was a noticeable improvement on the fading issue when I started using Ariel colour, and the colours retain their intensity for longer Also when you hang clothes out on the line, if you hang them inside out and peg them at the seams this will also prevent fading.
It is not the cheapest on the market, but I think you get what you pay for and you do not need a lot. In fact if you use too much wash powder it is the predominant reason, and cause of washing machines breaking down. A washing machine repair man once told me this when he came round to fix mine. He said it keeps him in business, people just shovel it in, the more the better, thinking that more means cleaner, when it does not in fact it stops the machine operating at its optimum efficiency and your clothes are not even as clean as they would have been if you had put less in. The excess powder eventually clogs the mechanism and the machine ceases to function, and then it costs you £60 for the repair man to come out.
There are two types of Ariel color, Ariel color powder, and Ariel color liquid. I have used them both. The advantage of the liquid is that it does not cause the clogging I mentioned above, because for one it passes through the mechanism more smoothly and secondly you can use it in a ball which you put in the drum of your machine as opposed to filling the little drawer at the top. This means it does not even pass through the mechanism which is prone to clogging, and goes straight to the heart of the wash, as it says in the advert, hence better results. I think it is also available in tablet form, but I won’t comment on them, as I have never used them.
All the washing instructions are on the box as to how much you need to use, for those of you who are used to having you mother do your washing for you or the Laundromat, and if you need a ball for the liquid I think you can send away for one free of charge.
I could not find any information on wether this product is biodegradable or not, I have a feeling that it is let down in this respect. If you want to be environmentally friendly with your washing there are several tips at the www.washright.com website, which I found on the box. This is a European wide initiative by detergent manufacturers to tackle the question of the environmental impact of washing powder.
They list several key areas
Do not under fill the machine, this helps unnecessary washes and there fore pollution.
Use the minium amount of detergent according to water hardness preventing unnecessary pollution
use the lowest recommended temperature , there fore using less electricity, todays powders do not need high temperatures for good results.
Buy refill packs where applicable, preventing unwanted packaging waste.

Advantages: it's a non bio Disadvantages: it's a non bio so stubborn stains might need another wash!
Ariel non bio is the latest in a long line of Ariel products, coming in a variety of formulas eg powder, Liquid, tablets and I think those rather silly plastic coated space invader type things. Ariel and I go back along way, about 30 years to be precise when I along with several other close family members developed a rather nasty itchy rash from head to foot. Yes I can honestly say I've had a grudge against Ariel for 30 years and have never used ... ...the washing powder stakes? Well Ariel decided they hadn't quite cornered the market had they? Some of us notably parents of small soft skinned children and bad experiences in the itchy and scratchy stakes use a non bio powder. So obvious marketing ploy isn't it to go do a dermalogically tested non bio product. Add to this an opening offer of a third off and you'll be amazed at who's trolley the stuff ends up in...Son of satan in my trolley!! Having ...

...the reason I originally bought Ariel washing powder is because my boyfriend was using it (this is before we moved in together) and the smell reminded me of him. He would only use Ariel Colour powder and that was because he loved the smell. Before meeting my current beau, I simply bought whatever was on special offer, or, if there were no special offers, I bought the shop's own brand washing powder. Nowadays, I almost always buy Ariel, not just because ... ...superior product. Ariel Colour laundry detergent can be bought as a powder, a liquid, liquitabs or tablets. I purchase the powder form. You can buy it in three sizes - a 1.1kg box will give you approximately 15 washes and costs around £2.49; a 3.3kg box will give you approximately 45 washes and costs around £5.48; or a 5.5kg box (which I've never seen let alone bought!) will give you approximately 75 washes and costs around £8.75. The prices are ...

So , as I was nearly out of my regular powder , I pops down to my local Netto to price a box up . It was reasonably heavy to carry with a little shopping , but not too bad .
The box is a nice dark green colour with the ariel logo on the front and " Turn to 30 degrees "in large letters . It states " ...

...want to tell readers about Ariel washpowder, because I have found it to be so useful in many ways, and more efficient than other makes.
Ariel washpowder comes in three sizes, 1 1.1kg pack at £2.48, a 3.3 Kilogram pack at £5.44, and a 5.5 Kilogram pack at £8.78
I usually buy the small sized pack because I have specific uses for the powder and this suits my needs. PACKAGING

THE PRODUCT
This is an automatic washing detergent, and when I say automatic, I believe that what the manufacturers meant was that it was suitable for automatic washing machines. I, however, have not had a washing machine for ten years, and automatic means something entirely different.
When you open the pack, there is a very strong clean smell and the powder is whitish with ...

Advantages: It does what its supposed to do Disadvantages: Can be a bit pricey
...My husband found that Ariel powder was on special and decided to give it a go. You should know at the onset, that I’m not exactly sure why, but I believe that we have available here a type of Ariel washing powder that you can’t get in the UK. Ours is called “Ariel Ultra Clean Plus” (hence the title of this op). According to our package, it is good for both white washes and coloured washes and can be used for hand washing as ... ...you four different types of Ariel laundry products. The regular Ariel for general laundry, Ariel Colour which is specially formulated for coloured washes, Ariel Handwash which is meant to be used for delicate fabrics and Ariel Non-Bio. I’d be willing to bet that if Ariel makes all of these products, then the quality can’t really be all that different. What I have certainly noticed over the years is that even when they have changed their ...

Advantages: Excellent cleaning Disadvantages: A little pricey
I originally tried Arielwashingpowder tablets with the try me free offer which accompanied their launch - and now I am a convert!
They are easy to use, the washing is clean and fresh and there is no mess left in the washing machine.
If the water is less than hot going into the machine I do crumble the tablets a little before I open the packet and then empty the packet contents into the washing machine drawer.
These tablets are slightly more expensive than some of the others so I just wait until one of the supermarkets has a special offer on them and stock up!! ...
Advantages: easy to use, cleans floors in a errr Flash! Disadvantages: none
I found these in Sainsbury?s. ?The fast and easy was to clean your floors?.
Flash products are made by Proctor & Gamble who make other well-known brands such as Pampers nappies, Arielwashingpowder and Olay beauty products.
The wipes comes in a plastic package with a reseal able top, when you want one you just pull out a wipe and the others stay in place. There are 20 wipes in a pack and they cost £1.99 at Sainsbury?s.
The wipes themselves are very luxuriant. They smell lovely, a lemony type smell which isn?t overpowering. The wipes measure 29cm x 21 cm and are very thick, which is good when there is a stubborn stain that needs scrubbing, they don?t tear either. The are quite moist, and this lasts which allows you to clean a larger floor area.
The wipes can be used with any kind of square mop or broom. I use mine ...
Advantages: Gorgeous smelling clothes (and wardrobe!) Disadvantages: None really, apart from the fact it might be a bit pricey for some.

I prefer to use a 1L concentrate bottle which actually cost £1.30 but it does last a longer time than with the regular bottle. The regular 2L bottles are £1.60 but in Sainsbury's they were 2 for £2.00 (bargain).
The summer breeze is a lovely yellow colour and smells exactly like a summer day walking though a meadow of flowers, thats the best I can explain it. It is such a lovely smell and so fresh.
