Ariel non bio is the latest in a long line of Ariel products, coming in a variety of formulas eg powder, Liquid, tablets and I think those rather silly plastic coated space invader type things.

Ariel and I go back along way, about 30 years to be precise when I along with several other close family members developed a rather nasty itchy rash from head to foot. Yes I can honestly say I've had a grudge against Ariel for 30 years and have never used Ariel let alone a Biological powder since them! My Mum swore ( probably at them as well!) by Persil Non Bio and I've always used a non bio powder as well. Well if you'd been part of the itchy and scratchy family for nearly a week you would too!

So how come I'm now writing a review on the equivelant of Son of Satan in the washing powder stakes? Well Ariel decided they hadn't quite cornered the market had they? Some of us notably parents of small soft skinned children and bad experiences in the itchy and scratchy stakes use a non bio powder. So obvious marketing ploy isn't it to go do a dermalogically tested non bio product. Add to this an opening offer of a third off and you'll be amazed at who's trolley the stuff ends up in...Son of satan in my trolley!!

Having only experimented with the liquid version of Ariel Non Bio I can only comment on this version. The first thing you notice about the bottle well apart from the third off label is the rather chunky dosing ball which I believe is a feature of all their liquid laundry products. One nice feature of this was the little roller ball at the end which enables you to apply detergent direct to any nasty stains.

LT being one of those children that attracts dirt like there is no tomorrow always has a stain or two that needs a good soak so the roller ball soon go to work on a variety of stains namely chocolate - well what are sleeves for apart from wiping your chocolate coated mouth on and who cares if it was your posh new top? Dried mud - well I kind of tripped in the garden at nursery didn't I mummy? and Beans - well I got most of it into my mouth just missed a few! With such delights I got to work - you thought I had better things to worry about! After a quick rub down with the roller ball they were put into the wash.

Ariel reckons you can get up to 30 washes if you use the half dose measure. This being for lightly soiled items, since this is a rarity in our house I dosed it up with a 1 dose or 75mls and bunged all the stuff on a hot wash.

Ariel non bio is a blue rather watery liquid with a pleasant fresh smell to it - ok but nothing special.

Remeber the old ads about doing the window test after the wash? You know the one were the woman holds her whites up to the window and sughs with amazement at how fresh and clean looking they are? Well I didn't go as far as that but I definetly had a good look at the stained clothing. On the beans and mud stakes they'd have pasted the window test but on the chocolate front a repeat wash was needed to finally rid the sleeve of the choccie stain. To be honest I doubt if any other non bio powder would have shifted them first time! Ariel Non bio on the whole gave a similar performance to other non bio detergents - washing was clean smelt nice and some stubborn stains remained

Given the bad experience with Ariel biological - yes I know the formula has been changed a zillion times in the last 30 years but I can still remeber the itchy and scratchy sensation I was waiting for the return act! But fingers crossed LT and I haven't had any problems

Now would I buy this stuff again? I'm a special offer butterfly when it comes to washing detergents. The only criteria being is its a non bio powder/liquid/tablet and its on special offer. So if Ariel was on offer again then yes it would end up in my trolley.

I've been meaning to tell you! Do you remember recommending the Persil Non-Bio to me? I tried it and I'm delighted. Thank you.
