I want to tell readers about Ariel washpowder, because I have found it to be so useful in many ways, and more efficient than other makes.
Ariel washpowder comes in three sizes, 1 1.1kg pack at £2.48, a 3.3 Kilogram pack at £5.44, and a 5.5 Kilogram pack at £8.78
I usually buy the small sized pack because I have specific uses for the powder and this suits my needs.
PACKAGING
The powder comes in a cardboard box and has a push in opening on the side of the box for ease. This is a bright green packet with a bold logo for Ariel in red flashed across the front of the packet.
THE PRODUCT
This is an automatic washing detergent, and when I say automatic, I believe that what the manufacturers meant was that it was suitable for automatic washing machines. I, however, have not had a washing machine for ten years, and automatic means something entirely different.
When you open the pack, there is a very strong clean smell and the powder is whitish with little flecks which I have always assumed to be the "enzymes", or the power that cleans your clothes.
When I used the word "automatic", I should explain something. When you have no washing machine and you have soiled whites such as tea towels, there is nothing more disappointing than the results of hand washing. Stains just stay there. When I dilute a scoop of Ariel however in warm water, and soak the tea-towels overnight, without any effort on my part, the stains disappear and automatically, I have white whites.
Whilst I love the smell of Ariel, I have to say though that the product is harsh on my skin, and having been stung by it once, I tend to wear gloves when using Ariel.
OTHER USES
If you have a stained sink - you know tea stains that stay in the bottom of the sink, then put a scoop of Ariel into water and soak overnight. The effect is startling. Clean, white and fresh smelling.
For mugs that have become stained, the same applies. Although this is not what the powder was invented for, mugs soaked overnight become spotless and I always make sure that I have washed them thoroughly with boiling water before I drink from them, but am always astrounded at the results.
HOW IT COMPARES TO OTHER POWDERS.
I have tried many powders, and over the last ten year period I can name ones that come to mind as Daz, Omo, Bonux, Bold, and none of them live up to the promise of Ariel. Perhaps it is the ingredients and whitening agents that Ariel has in its recipe that make the difference.
Another example of how much cleaning power Ariel has is that I home spin wool, and it is essential to soak the spun wool skeins to clean the wool after it has been spun. I have tried with many powders, and there is not one that leaves the wool as clean as Ariel, although I do use a fabric softener in the rinse, as I find that clothes and even my wool, can be itchy to the skin if a rinsing agent is not used.
VALUE FOR MONEY
For the amount of tea towels alone that Ariel has saved being relegated to the duster cupboard, this powder is worth its weight in gold. The product boasts oxygen based bleaching agents, and although I do not understand the complexity of the statement can only assume that this is released during the wash to lift the stains out of soiled linen.
LONG LASTING EFFECTS
I find that Ariel is kind on colours, and that the coloured clothing seems to keep its original colour longer. As for whites, my whites do not stay white long as my life here is rustic, though I am content to always have a packet of Ariel to fall back on.
SMELL OF CLEAN CLOTHES
Superb.
I would highly recommend this product as being one of the best on the market for whites and coloured, though would not recommend it for delicates as the product is too harsh.
