Okay, I admit, I didn't really 'need' a new perfume, as I already own too many to mention without it being embarrassing cause there are people going hungry in the world and I am obsessed with perfume, but I had to have it. I went down to the local cosmetics shop as they wanted to give me a Clinique lipstick for being such a good customer (perfume, anyone?) and the green box stared me down. It whispered to me, along with the huge tester bottle : Sarah, you know you want to spray me... I smell soooooo gooooood.... and I am a sucker, so I couldn't resist. I did however only succumb to the smallest size, so I guess that's forgiveable....I first came accross this scent when my good friend in high school had this sitting on her dresser in 1996. I thought it smelled super classy and yum. Anyway enough blabla, let us move on to the scent!*
~The packaging~
Acqua die Giņ is available as an Eau de Toilette, and comes in a minty-green cardboard box. On the front of the box is written in dark green 'Acqua di Giņ, Giorgio Armani, Eau De Toilette Vaporisateurnatural spray. The bottle design is quite simple, made of frosted glass, with the name of the fragrance once again written on the front in dark green lettering. The cap is a platic golden affair, so the overall look is simple chic. The sprayer is of gold coloured metal and delivers short bursts of fragrance. The fragrance itself is acqua green, but sprays clear.
~The fragrance experience~
Acqua di Giņ starts off with a top note of fresh cut flowers (sweat pea smells sweetly rosy), with middle notes of oceanic freshness, or the smell of a freshly rained upon garden, and then ambery woody musky notes round up the base. Super feminine and a fragrance which is really hard not to like. Very luminous. The Armani description of this creation: "Acqua Di Gio was created by Giorgio Armani in 1995 and is recommended for casual wear. This feminine scent contains a blend of fresh floral, sweet pea, and jasmine." The first time I wore this to work, one of my coworkers almost drooled all over me and said 'you smell amazing, what perfume is that?' and when I told him, he said he would buy one for his girlfriend, presumably so he could drool all over her ;)
I have the 35ml bottle of edt, but it is also available in 50ml and 100ml sizes. There is also shower gel, body lotion, and deodorant available if you want to splurge. I paid about £18 for my 35ml bottle, so it is pretty expensive.
~The smelly truth~
I love this fragrance in the summer as a classy change to my Cool Water Woman (Davidoff). It is a very distinctive scent and undeniably summery and feminine. It fits in with jeans and a tank or an elegant gown. I find it lasts all day if sprayed on the nape of the neck or on clothes. I find that it irritates my skin if I spray it on my neck (in front) or wrists :( Would be nice in winter too as a pick-me-up when I get sick of the endless grey days :) It is a nice everyday fragrance and I could easily see it being someone's signature scent, but I am far too fickle for that ;) If you are looking for a fresh feminine scent which is very distinctive smelling, you should give it a try! As it irritates my skin, I can only give it four stars.

smells like a nice perfume, how do you rate it against oriental lushious scents like samsara?

It's so hard to describe a perfume's smell, but you did a really good job in this op.
