My partner and I ordered a New Clio with Arnold Clark at the beginning of July.
The sales people are very pushy and we should have walked away before signing the contract and found another Renault Dealer at that point ........ ! I will learn from my mistakes.
They tried to push us into buying a second-hand car, but I stood my round and ordered a new one in the new pistachio colour, they continued to try and push us away from buying the new car in the specific colour as there would be a long wait ....... but we could have another colour sooner, how convenient for them this would have been.
Anyway as soon as we signed the contract the sales man was off looking for his next victim leaving us sat their gob smacked at how things had changed since we first walked in when they could not do enough for us.
They gave us an estimated delivery date of the 4th November, but I was prepared to wait to get what I wanted. We finally got a call from Arnold Clark on the 20th October letting us know that our new car was ready for collection. Due to financial commitments we could not collect the car till the 28th October, and Arnold Clark were very happy with this as it gave them time to sort out our new car ready for us to collect ....... yeah right !!
We called into Arnold Clark yesterday to check what was required of us to complete the sale, we pulled into the car-park and could not see our new car anywhere outside and I got a bit worried.
After dodging loads of sales men we finally made our way into the Showroom, only to find my BRAND NEW CAR being used as a demonstration model. Oh my god !!!!!!!!!
The look on the Sales Peoples faces when they realised who we were was a picture !
I was then told a pack of lies when we realised our new was being used as a demonstration model and was assured that the car was locked and NO-ONE was allowed in it. Although we saw that the boot was unlocked and the windows were wound down. I also noticed that the drivers seat was dirty along with the foot well having muddy marks in. But they continued to assure me that it was only in the showroom to show off the colour.
For a brief moment I swallowed all the rubbish they told me and sat down sorting out all the final details.
I still can't believe what happened next ........ another sales man brought a member of the public into the showroom and directed this innocent man to 'try out' my car. It was only when I gave out a large gasp that the sales man we were dealing with shouted for them to stop.
He then said to me "if it makes you feel any better I will lock your car up" ........ what a daft thing to say to me ............ of course I would feel better !! aaarrrrrgggghhhhh !!!
Both my partner and I left with me close to tears, and later telephoned and spoke with the manager telling him how unhappy I was. He did appologise and assured me that my new car had been removed from the showroom and that I would recieve my new car in perfect condition.
However to me the car I have ordered no longer feels like a new car .......... it feels like a used demonstration car. Totally not what i am paying for.
I have already taken legal advice and logged a complaint with Trading Standards and look forward to Arnold Clark's response !
*** UPDATE ****
We have since spoken to AC and expressed our upset etc, they have been very helpful and appologetic. They have offered to pay for a Boot Box which was ordered as an extra.
