I use this program to help me with writing songs for my band, and I must say I think its brilliant.
Because it allows you to add sounds for anything from guitar, bass and drums, right through to synth and strings you can build a really clear image of what your song could sound like. It has both tab and sheet music shown next to each other which is very useful.I usually will come up with a guitar riff, and then I just tap in the tabs for it, let it play on loop and then I can just strum along underneath to get something that sounds right, then tab that in, and add some bass and so on until it's all there. And the realistic sound engine makes it sound very good.
Another very good use for this program is if you are trying to learn to play guitar for a song, if you find a guitar pro tab for it and load it up, u can mute all other instruments and hear exactly when each note needs to be played (assuming the person who tabbed it got it right of course). And then there a lot of nice little features like the chord gallery so you can see different variations of each chord. And you can even tab in a chord that you don't know the name for, and it will tell you what chord it is and other ways you can play it.
I can honestly say if I would be lost without this.

An interesting concept, I would love to see a demo.

Not something I'd heard of, but sounds really useful - would make music lessons at school so much easier!
