Advantages: Light, economical, easy to ride and fun. Comfortable too. Disadvantages: Sound with standard can! Niggly quality issues..
ride it. I rode the bike back from Harrogate in Yorkshire to Thatcham in Berkshire and I was scared about my fuel. I had done 155 miles according to the trip computer, and when I filled up I could only get 10 litres in the 17L tank. Reserve comes on with about 3.5-4l to go so it should give you a range of about 35 miles when the light starts flashing.
Controls are typical Suzuki, very clear and simple. Dashboard shows revs and speed, low warning light but no temp gauge or fuel guage. Two trip meters (very handy) and an odometer complete the package.
Under the rear seat, it's hard to fit much as the fuse box is in the way. My bike has a tail tidy so I'm not sure if this affects underseat storage. I managed to fit a Scottoiler there, and I also managed to stuff a pair of Winter gloves under the seat... just.
My SV650S model has clipons ...

Advantages: good looks, affordable to the masses Disadvantages: lack of alarm, full fairing
Picked up my new 09(old model) sv650s k7 on saturday 7th march 2009 and have only done a few miles and its brilliant. I have only my naked learner bike to compare it to but its really fantastic. engine still to be run in so cant give it the full beans but still you can feel its power virtually in any gear from 3000 revs onwards. Highly recommended even if your an experienced rider. The only criticism if thats what you can call it is the lack of alarm etc, i think the sport version has one but i suppose with low purchase price you cant expect to too loaded up with kit. Full fairing looks better on sport but my budget wouldn't stretch to that model. ...

I bought a SV a year ago, for most of this time i was on a resticted liecence, so 33bhp. this was ok really, i mean it didnt make much difference until u got to about 70mph, unless u go full throttle. on 33bhp after 70 mph it is very slow progress, the fastest it wud ever go on 33bhp is about 115, thats with a major 3mile straight and a rear wind in 4th gear. in normal surcumstances ur talking about 100mph. which is fine, goin fast in a straight line is fun for like a week anyway.
Now the restiction has been removed which is a bit of a faff tbh, u gta change the carb sliders, which is good really, because the restiction wont cause any damage and will run smooth, unlike some air intake restrictions. so yeh now the restiction is off the power is great, just the right amount, not so much that u will do wheelies or wheel spin on full ...
