Advantages: Looks good, sounds good, cheap to buy. Disadvantages: Makes a 50cc bike illegal at 16 just like any other exhaust.
...I have an Aprilia RX50 racing, 2006. I have an arrowexhaust on it. it was already on there when i baught it, but the standard exhaust restricted it to 25 mph, but the full arrowexhaust kit makes it go to 55 to 60 mph. It looks alot better than the standard exhaust. They are easy to get hold of if you want one. For a full arrowexhaust system usually costs around £185. Arrow make many exhausts for many different bikes. When mine had the standard exhaust on it sound like a broken hair dryer like a standard moped, but now it sounds like a 125 cc motocross bike. I learnt how to ride it in 15 minutes, that was the first time i have ever ridden a geared motorbike. Even my dad loves it and he has a Yamaha R1 which is 20 x more powerful. All those people thinking of getting one, get an arrow. Hope this helps....

Advantages: lots of fun to ride, great handling, funky looks Disadvantages: slow, requires lots of modifications to get the best performance (but it's worth it!)
...sprocket makes for great acceleration to 50mph, but as you crawl up to 70mph the rpm's are nearing the 10,000 redline. Not good if you value your engine.
In order to really release the potential of this little bike you need to replace the whole exhaust with an aftermarket variety: an Arrow system is the best. This is far lighter than the original Yamaha and looks and sounds great. There are no silly restrictors and best of all no catalytic converter! This system really makes use of the TDR's derestricted power and at 7,000 rpm the 2 stroke powerband kicks in and off you go.
The next thing that needs to be sorted is the gearing. The most popular modification is to swap the 16 tooth gearbox sprocket for a 17 tooth version. This will lower the rpms by about 500rpm for each gear. So 60mph will be 7,500 rpm, 70mph will be 8,500 rpm, 80mph...

Advantages: Lightweight great fuel economy fun cheap to run cheap insurance Disadvantages: exhaust front brakes
...have 1 inch freeplay up and down roughly)
The main issue to be honest with these bikes are that the exhausts rot through at the join from the rear cans and the front downpipes , this is annoying and sometimes fiddly work but should only take an hour to replace without too much agro. I did mine in an hour whilst keeping the bike on its centre stand in my garage.
if you look on ebay you can actually get the new downpipes for a little over £100 for stainless steel replacements so when people say its expensive i dont really tend to agree. i admit it can be f you go to your yamaha / local bike dealer and get them to do it for you but if you can afford a few tools and an hour or 2 then doing it yourself saves the £40 or so per hour labour charges. you can also 9/10 weld the exhaust where it had rotted and this is usually good for another...
