Central Saint Martins - Foundation Review 09.
Advantages: - you learn some important aspects that are vital for your degree. Disadvantages: - Totally unfair UK:International and Student:Tutor time
Central Saint Martins is known to be a good and thorough art school. The building was in a nice location, the workshops satisfactory consisting of : Wood, Metal, Ceramics, Stitch and Print. Within Foundation the classes split into - Fine Art: Painting, sculpture, contextual studies, video & photography - 3DD: Architecture, product design, jewellery, spatial design - Design: Textiles, Fashion, Fashion Communication, Graphics, Illustration, Visual ... ...enjoyable and you get to experience most of every pathway. What was disappointing is that generally, everything seems rushed and you get a month to experience ALL of these pathways. Be warned that most of the course is rushed. When placed into your pathway (Which is a stressful process much like entering for your BA) Firstly, the classrooms are just that, classrooms tables and chairs only. Lecture rooms involves an underground basement downstairs. ...

London College of Communication - hmm...
Advantages: Very hip, excellent facilities for each subject area, people on the whole very sociable and friendly Disadvantages: It's in Elephant & Castle!! Not much of a 'community' feel due to it being in London, terrible Freshers arrangements
...didn't feel at home in London in general. This doesn't mean it won't be the place for you however!
The college is very artsy, not at all like a traditional university, so if a campus uni is what you're after then run away, run away now! However, if you're searching for something a little different, LCC is a great place. There are so many interesting people milling around, some fantastically dressed art students - don't forget that this is what LCC ... ...a city as huge as London is. Also, I personally felt as if I missed out on the whole Freshers, getting to know people thing due to not having any contact with university life outside the course. In halls, however, everyone talks to everyone, and the fact that you’re all in the same situation means that even if you don’t get on with certain people, the laws of probability say you’re bound to find others to make friends with. I know plenty of people ...

London College of Fashion
Advantages: Free form teaching Disadvantages: No university experience
...outside of UCAS : The London College of Fashion. I thought that it would give me everything that a conventional university wouldn't, so instead of going to Bristol or Durham which I probably should have, I made a somewhat " distinguished" choice, I guess you could say.
The London College of Fashion is part of the London Institute ( which is comprised of 5 art schools ). It has 2 main grounds, Oxford Circus and Bond St., and 1 smaller one, just behind ... ...called Fashion Promotion that didn't require the use of full on studios, I spent most of my time at the Bond St one. At first glance, the school looks rather quaint. The street has a subtle and understated character to it and if you didn't know that the large No. 65 denoted the school's location, you could have happily walked past without really knowing it was there. Once inside though, it's revealed for what it really is. the building doesn't really ...

UWIC-University of Wales Institute Cardiff
Advantages: Own bus and nightclub. Cheap beer and excellent education. Disadvantages: Can't think of one
University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) has been a university since 1998. It was formerly known as Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, Llandaff Technical College and years before that it was the college for Mariners.
UWIC quickly gained an award for excellence.
UWIC has four sites across the city. Each campus has many different schools.
Colchester Avenue- Catering and Hospitality.
Howard Gardens- Art.
Cyncoed- Teaching and Sport.
Llandaff- ... ...about 10,000 students at UWIC across the four sites.
UWIC has an active Students' Union which has its own bus service, bars and even has an interest in a night club in the city centre called Reds.
Although UWIC already has an adequate provision of halls, 2005 will see the opening of brand new student accomodation in the city centre.
Computer facilities are 24/7 and there is never a shortage of PC's, which I understand can be a real problem at ...
