Topsy and Tim Go On An Aeroplane

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

This is one of my boys? favourites in the Topsy and Tim series by Jean and Gareth Adamson. In this Topsy and Tim story the twins are going on their Summer holidays with Mummy and Dad, which means going on an aeroplane for the first time. Topsy and Tim take us through the terminals, up long escalators and along tunnels, explaining about luggage going on moving platforms and sweets stopping your ears from popping as the plane takes off. They meet the stewardess and the pilot and drive Dad a bit mad by fidgeting and swapping food in their special trays before arriving safely at their destination. This is a hardback Ladybird book, measuring 16.4 x 12 x 0.6 cm, which has a RRP of £2.50. There are colour pictures on each page, which are quite simple, bright and cheerful. It is suitable for children aged from about 3 to 7. I find Ladybird ...

Buffet RC prestige Clarinet

Advantages: Great Quality and Sound
Disadvantages: A bit expensive

After starting the clarinet at school i asked for a buffet B12 clarinet for christmas. I kept this clarinet until the last year of my A levels but my clarinet teacher advised me that i needed a new one to progress further. Because of this i then started to try many different clarinets. I tried nearly every model and every make and narrowed it down to a Buffet RC and a Buffet R13. The reason i chose an RC prestige was because of the dark mellow german tone compared to the R13 prestige which gives a brighter french tone. This clarinet served me well through my degree, i gained a first in major performance with this clarinet and enjoyed every minute of practicing with it. now i am a woodwind teacher i would always tell the pupils to go for Buffet as they make outstanding clarinet. Even the most basic models are well built and sound good ...

Off To Spain In An Aeroplane

Advantages: The series has a book for most occasions, lovely stories with lively pictures
Disadvantages: No "Topsy and Tim surf the internet". Yet.

Next week I’m going to Spain twice. Sort of. I’ll travel to Barcelona, sit in their airport for an hour, and then travel from there to Ibiza. Two journeys and two aeroplanes and landings in two Spanish airports on the same day. Topsy and Tim only got one of each, but they still had a lot of fun. It’s been more than 40 years since the first Topsy and Tim books were published, and with all the other children’s books that have come onto the market since then, it would be easy to forget about this terrific twosome. Luckily for children of the new millennium, the series is currently being relaunched so they can go on being enjoyed for another 40 years or so. Topsy and Tim are twins. They live with mum and dad and the odd pet in a nice house somewhere in England. In later books they even have an adopted sister ...
