Artec, Not a name i was familiar with until my ricoh cd writer decided to give up the ghost and wouldnt read or write. Although not very expensive (cost about £30 on ebay) has been very reliable and takes minutes to write a full compact disk. Comparing it to my old drive there are the following differences:

The one main advantage of this drive is the buffer under run protection - my old ricoh drive would have to be left to write a cd with nothing else running. The artec can have lots going on whilst writing a CD - can browse the internet and play games at the same time as writing a CD.
