Arthur is an aardvark, though I’ve only just learnt this. Reading the books all summer I assumed he was just some sort of animal / alien cross breed, invented to amuse children the world over. He lives with mom and dad and sister D.W. (and little Baby Kate in later books) and is a normal kid – he goes to school, watches TV, dislikes tidying his room and so on. When my local library was having a clear out of books I noticed this one for sale at 40p price on it when new is £2.99p. I bought it to add to Adrian’s ever-growing library. (I think it’s suitable for a 4/5 year old till 6/7)
