I have recently removed the old artificial, synthetic grass to our balcony on our apartment and laid down fresh new Astro Turf. I realise this is probably something we are more accustomed to on a soccer pitch, but where we live we have no garden area and we have to resort to a small balcony of approximately 5’ x 3’. The old turf was beginning to look ragged around the edges and drainage had been a problem due to the heavy rains we have been experiencing here lately and it was looking rather old and tired.I sourced some new turf online and paid £55 for the size I needed. It came ready rolled and looked much newer and a lot greener than the old turf did as I guess it has not been bleached by the rays of the sun.
The turf is easy to lay and cut and did not need to be professionally installed, as I was able to easily do this myself. The result is a good-looking green balcony again with no ragged edges for the children to trip over. It takes a good substitute for the real thing and I know from personal experience that this stuff is real hard wearing and even despite a lot of trampling the grass stands upright and does not wear out or lay flat.I do feel it looks realistic enough to be passed off as real garden grass and until the day arrives when we move to a house with a traditional garden, then I guess this will suffice. We are all delighted with the look and feel and the quality and I really recommend it for small patches or areas where it’s not possible to grow grass but you would like some greenery.
