...The Beginners Guide to C++ is the best book if you want to learn basic C++ from scratch. It first defines all the principle facts about C++ and programming and then builds up by creating programs, which get more complicated as the book goes on. All the terms and programs are defined in detail at both input and output stages. It covers a lot of C++ and has tests at the end of each chapter, which really helped me too learn. It is also so good as if you want to learn another language it gives techniques, which can be used with any language.... Read review

Advantages: Explains all the aspects of Oracle
Disadvantages: Far too vague

...Oracle – A Beginners Guide – attempts to explain all the areas of Oracle under one cover, and doesn’t do a very good job about it. While it gives a fairly decent background into Oracle, and has separate chapters on Installation, SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, DBA and Tuning, each chapter is very vague and not dealt with in any great depth. Therefore, this book is not suitable as a reference tool or to look up correct syntax. I also felt that the presentation and layout of this book could have been better, and there appeared to be a number of Typos and inaccuracies. Unless you are completely new to Oracle and are looking for a background in its entirety, I wouldn’t recommend this book.... Read review

...I have two small daughters who love books and also love bears so 'The Beginner's Guide to Bears' was an excellent choice for them. Although it looks like a story book, and indeed its content is entirely fictional, it takes on the guise of a manual which informs its young reader about everything that bears like and do! The book starts by explaining the very special relationship that exists between bears and children: You need a bear And a bear needs you. You and a bear Together makes two. It then goes on to discuss what bears look like, the games they want to play, the food they enjoy (honey of course but lots of other things besides!), the weather they enjoy, how to look after them when they are ill and what they need at bedtime!
