Good for starting actors, my experience was successful using it
Advantages: A wide range of scripts, male and female, and young to old Disadvantages: there isnt much information given about the play before, so do your own research!
...do a duologue, i did the wrong thing and not research the plays background but still i managed to get an A because the plays in here are very good ones. I think possibly the best of the best duologues are in here. The one i used 'Split down the middle', is extremely funny if performed properly. I find its too easy to judge whether something is funny or not, when rehearsal i found it pretty daft and that we'd get a bad reception. But it turned out ... ...Also, i found that the duologues don't require any props as there is enough information given in the script to divert the attention away. I was suppose to be in a boat for mine, but i was sat on a chair, and no one cared! There is a variety of duologues from young to old, and a good share in male and female pieces. It has encouraged me to want to get other methuen books. ...

STILL the Bible of Pop.
Advantages: A wealth of information; user friendly; outstanding value for money and interesting articles too. Disadvantages: A very minor gripe - the lack of a dedicated 'uk number 1's' section.
The "Virgin" Book of WHAT? I was a little surprised a few weeks ago to discover that after some 30 years the legendary Book of British Hit Singles was no longer published by Guinness but by Virgin. Aside from sentimental value however the change in publisher makes little difference to the overall value of this book. I will add that I would have greatly welcomed the change in publisher about 10 years ago when despite taking great care in compiling ... ...A previous edition of the Guinness Book was labelled along the lines of 'The Bible of Pop' and I personally agree. For those who are unfamiliar with the series the Book of British Hit Singles in basic terms has two listings sections, firstly by artist/band/duo etc whose hit singles have made the top 75 in the singles charts since 1952 when the charts as we came to know them were first compiled. Basically you can search for an artist such as ABBA ...

Hedonistic but touchingly real.
Advantages: Quite nostalgic for anyone who grew up with Britpop Disadvantages: End is hurried.
...evening.
Admittedly, I've always been bit of a fan of Alex James (but then that's why people would choose to read it), so I may be a little biassed, but I found it a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of one of the Britpop revolution's rich and famous. And what a lifestyle!
The account of his early years, not too short not too long, sets the scene for the notorious years very well and provides a great description of how Blur came to be. Perhaps ... ...the rest of the band- it really is about HIM and what he was thinking, feeling and what motivated him at the time. The account of his life life post-Britpop seems a little hurried and seems a little disjointed from the rest of the book but is interesting nonetheless.
As you'd expect from the autobiography of a pop star, the writing isn't the most poetic ever but it seems honest and that's why it makes such a good read. ...

From a world of illusion comes a love of delusion
Advantages: Nice tricks to have in your top pocket Disadvantages: Hypnotising
...doing some of his core tricks and skills. We start of with a basic coin and card trick, early on setting the parameters that slight of hand, subterfuge and distraction are skills you will need for later on. There are tips and lessons on everything from hypnotism and mind reading, to faking séances and pretending to talk to the dead. Derren has few nice things to say about people who claim to have special powers and charge people money in the process ... ...guys with the same ‘amazing’ results and no one would know the difference. Brown explains in detail how experienced police detectives can use various suggestive memory techniques to get witnesses ad villains alike to produce the statement results they want, SVA (Statement Validity Assement) the method used. If you are one of the above and not used to police questioning then this stuff is easy to fall for. One way is for the detective to recite what ...

"Out Of This World" gives a fascinating insight in muse
Advantages: superb detail using interviews with the band. Disadvantages: none
As my favorite band, i was very excited to be able to read more into their story and this book proved brilliant at explaining almost every aspect of muse's development as a band. It covers their upbringing in Teignmouth all the way to their amazing performance at Wembley Stadium. The level of detail is very high and even goes as far as to explain the music movements that occurred as muse developed, which highlighted how unique Muse are, and explains ... ...mainly on Matt Bellamy, the lead singer and guitarist, but i would say this is a good thing because his story is the most interesting thanks to his incredible musical ability as well as his opinions and views on the world, both of which are detailed in this book. I would definately recommend this book as a great read for a keen muse fan or even someone looking to read about the growth of one of today's biggest bands and their amazing and sometimes ...
