Creative Digital Crafts
Review of Creative Digital Crafts - Helen Bradley by ilaskey

Advantages: God ideas, plenty to try, clear instructions
Disadvantages: Some materials might be hard to source

Creative Digital Crafts is subtitled Creating Crafts Using Digital Photos and Art. Unlike most books that cover digital photography, this one is packed full of ways to use your images in rather more creative ways than just sticking them in an album. If you're the sort of person who enjoys crafts and customising things with your own little flourish then Creative Digital Crafts will be right up your street. The author, Helen Bradley has put together ...
...and Heat Transfer projects. Very helpfully, the book starts with a list of the projects with each being graded for computer skill and craft skill levels so you can easily see which ones are suitable for beginners or might be of interest to more advanced users. The first thing that struck me was the number of products I'd never heard of such as inkjet printable slide transfers, much like you get with Airfix model aircraft kits but in A4 size. Armed ... This masterpiece is no accident
Review of The Accidental Masterpiece: On the Art of Life and Vice Versa - Michael Kimmelman by frkurt

Advantages: Wonderful, inspiring, a good text for making one think and see in new ways
Disadvantages: A few colour plates or images would be nice

...from her table to read the first page, and found that I simply could not put it down. 'The Art of Life and Vice Versa', the subtitle said - something I have long aspired to understand is the interplay of art and life in its many facets and influences. ...Kimmelman's early examples is of the dentist Hugh Francis Hicks, whose home was a makeshift lightbulb museum (with more than 75,000 lightbulbs in his collection from all manner of times, places and devices). This is not mere enthusiasm, but an abiding love that made his interest a matter of art. One of Kimmelman's intentions here, which he has achieved, was not to confront or approach art from the standpoint of an art critic, an art historian, or ... Read review

GLAUCOMA
Review of Monet: The Ultimate Impressionist - Sylvie Patin by JHPRUSHTON

Advantages: EXCELLENT PICTURES WITH GREAT SUBJECTS
Disadvantages: SOME PICTURES APPEAR BLURRED ( JUST HOW IGNORANT CAN ONE GET)

IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE TO ME THAT PEOPLE WHO CRITISISE ARTISTS ONLY CRITISISE THEIR PAINTINGS WITHOUT ACTUALLY LOOKING INTO THE ARTISTS THEMSELVES. HAVING RECENTLY HEARD ONE CRITIC STATE THAT MONET'S PICTURES SEEM BLURRED...I WAS AMAZED. DO PEOPLE NOT KNOW THAT MONET SUFFERED FROM GLAUCOMA.. AND THAT IN FACT IF ONE LOOKS INTO HIS PAINTINGS IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER...THEY WILL SOON DISCOVER THAT HIS EARLY PAINTINGS WERE CRYSTAL CLEAR... APPARENTLY ... Read review
