Would You Share A Bed With Marilyn Monroe?
Review of My Week With Marilyn - Colin Clark by
KarenUK
Advantages: Informative, great read, realistic portrayal of Marilyn
Disadvantages: The book might be hard to find
I have recently been rebuilding my Marilyn Monroe collection and have bought several books, so that I now have around thirty on her. Most are the standard biographies, full of facts we all know already and rumours we don’t believe. But this book is something different.
My Week With Marilyn is a memoir of Colin Clark, Alan Clark’s brother. Colin was third assistant director on the 1956 film The Prince and the Showgirl, starring Marilyn Monroe and ... ...a longer period of time. My Week With Marilyn concentrates solely on the period of September 11th to the 19th, 1956, which was not written about in the first book.
Unlike other authors who may claim to have slept with Marilyn or even married her, Colin Clark does not come across as exaggerating his contact with the film star. He didn’t have sex with her and certainly has never claimed to have married her. Clark’s account of his time spent with Marilyn ...

A must-have for any Grease fans
Review of Frenchy's 'Grease' Scrapbook - Didi Conn by
sophie5914
Advantages: Very informative, great photos, well written
Disadvantages: None!
I ordered this book for my friend, but I began skimming through it when it arrived, and within hours I had rushed up to my computer and ordered a copy for myself! Because this book really is the ultimate guide to Grease!
It's written by none other than Didi Conn, who played the pink-haired beauty school drop-out Frenchy in the movie. It also includes a foreword by the producer Allan Carr.
It tells you about the movie's history - how it went from ... ...explains why the song "Freddy My Love" is on the soundtrack! I was wondering about that for ages, because I couldn't find it anywhere in the film. But this book told me that in the play, Marty sings "Freddy My Love" at the sleepover! It includes lots of interviews with almost all of the cast and crew - from auditioning, to what they thought of their characters, to what they're doing now. And what their characters are doing now! (Accoring to John ...

Phil uncovered
Review of Philip Lynott (The Rocker) - Mark Putterford by
Lauren007
Advantages: Everything you could ever want to know
Disadvantages: Slightly upsetting in places
This is quite a significant book to me. I grew up listening to Thin Lizzy and being Irish, my whole family was totally in love with their music. Phil Lynott was such a complex character I felt I owed it to him to read this book, just to prove that there was more to him than just the drugs. I learnt so much about him and the band that at points I felt I knew them. It was strange to think that if only Phil had stopped the drugs, he'd still be here. ... ...gives us all the gory details of his life, it tells tales of Phils hilariously flirtatious character, his obsession with music and showed us what a loving father he was and how much he loved being a father.
Last year I had the privelige of meeting his son and I felt like I knew everything about his father and he knew so little (he had only just found otu Phil was his father due to Phil giving him away because of his religion). It was amazing, it ...
