A great read for fans of the series
Review of Queer as Folk: The Scripts - Russell T. Davies by Hacaman

Advantages: Gives extra information and details not included on screen
Disadvantages: Not for people who are not fans of the TV programme

As a fan of the ground breaking TV series I decided to pick up this book from my local library. The book is structured exactly in script form, which makes it a different kind of read to your average novel, and just reading this on it's own as a script, may not have the same effect as maybe a screen play version. What this book does do for fans of the TV show though, is give them an insight into how the finished production differed from that of the ...
...context of word for word and sentence for sentence to what is heard on screen, but what you do get to read are the scenes that were either never recorded, or edited out of the final screen version. This gives a much wider view of the world the characters inhabit, and the direction and focus Russell T Davies author and show producer wanted to take with the TV production Altogether an interesting and worthwhile read for fans of the TV series, though ... Behind the Scenes at Gormenghast
Review of The Art of 'Gormenghast' (The Making of a Television Fantasy) - Estelle Daniel by steerpyke

Advantages: great background information
Disadvantages: aimed at a limited audience

...target audience. You probably watched the TV show if you were a fan of the books, and you would probably buy this "making of.." publication if you enjoyed the TV adaptation. However there is a lot more to this book than meets the eye and gives it wider appeal than to just Peake fans. The book is essentially a behind the scenes of the making of the TV show, and contains all the standard requirements, a biography of the author, an overview of how ...
...nut shell biography of the main actors. However there are other features that will appeal to those interested in other related subjects. There is an explaination of the special effects used, for example. As a TV show its certainly not big budget pyrotechnics and awesome landscapes, but the logistics of burning down a library and blue screen filming are fascinating. Many of the more everyday techniques that get over looked for more dramatic subjects ... Read review

Advantages: Honest, compelling and vibrant
Disadvantages: Occasional jarring grammatical slips

...redemption which left a smile on my face. I just hope it will open some people's eyes to the man behind the persona, the man inside it, the man entwined with it, who shimmers through in interviews and whose existence is so much more complex than many people realise. ... Read review

Banksy, buy it, it will change you
Review of Wall and Piece - Banksy"" by fg4f

Advantages: Strong views, makes you think.
Disadvantages: None

...name, or nickname onto a wall (tagging) should be called artists, usually just a nuisance. A lot of the time they help make a place look threatening and uninviting. You do have to appreciate however, that some graffiti, is amazing, very clever and usually always unique. Not often though, does it have a serious, deep meaning, or political view, capable of making you stop and think, that's where Banksy comes into his own catagory. Banksy ...
...to do with the Segregation Wall in Paletine. "Palestine has been occupied by the Israli army since 1967. In 2002 the Israeli government began building a wall separating the occupied territories from Israel, much of it illegal under international law. It is controlled by a series of checkpoints and observation towers, stands three times the height of the Berlin wall and will eventually run for over 700km - the distance from London to Zurich.
