A great biography
Review of Morrissey and Marr: the Severed Alliance (The Definitive Story of The Smiths) - Johnny Rogan by doctor_gonzo

Advantages: very comprehensive
Disadvantages: none

...the emotional conundrum that is Morrissey than the comparatively straight-laced guitar genius, Johnny Marr. Indeed a large section of the first part of the book is a history of the Morrissey family before little Stephen's conception. Notes of interest include the fact that Mozza's dad was a good footballer. The most interesting parts of the book however are those that deal with the band's shortlived career. Rogan searches for explanations for some ... Read review

The Man behind the Myth......
Review of Marilyn Manson - Kurt B. Reighley by maz2909

Advantages: Clear and Intelligent insight to a misunderstood man
Disadvantages: Can be very Graphic, no holds barred

I am a fan of Marilyn Manson's music wheras a lot of my friends are not... However I have discovered that there is a vast degree of interest in this man.... ....and an awful lot of rumours... "didn't he have some ribs removed?" "he eats live animals" "he worships satan" "listening to his music makes people murderous" If anyone has watched Bowling for Columbine they will see how this tradegy was blamed on Manson's music..... I would just like ...
...childhood of Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson), he seems to have had a fairly typical childhood, apart from a few disturbing incidents, notably discovering his grandad's collection of pornographic paraphonelia. He is also introduced to one persons version of Satanism from a young age, this version being the common misconception that satanism involves worshipping the devil but more on that later.... He grows up a kind of misfit in society, never ... Read review

Phil uncovered
Review of Philip Lynott (The Rocker) - Mark Putterford by Lauren007

Advantages: Everything you could ever want to know
Disadvantages: Slightly upsetting in places

This is quite a significant book to me. I grew up listening to Thin Lizzy and being Irish, my whole family was totally in love with their music. Phil Lynott was such a complex character I felt I owed it to him to read this book, just to prove that there was more to him than just the drugs. I learnt so much about him and the band that at points I felt I knew them. It was strange to think that if only Phil had stopped the drugs, he'd still be here. ...
...gives us all the gory details of his life, it tells tales of Phils hilariously flirtatious character, his obsession with music and showed us what a loving father he was and how much he loved being a father. Last year I had the privelige of meeting his son and I felt like I knew everything about his father and he knew so little (he had only just found otu Phil was his father due to Phil giving him away because of his religion). It was amazing, it ... Read review

Banksy wall and peace
Review of Wall and Piece - Banksy"" by mopmanwill

Advantages: really interesting book, very inspirational
Disadvantages: may not suit young children and specific to certain intrests

This book is very inspirational and after reading it fills your mind with ideas and creation. I bought this book not long ago and since i haven't put it down. I call it a book but to me its more like a gallery. Banksy expresses very political views by doing stencil art in some of the main cities of the u.k such as London and Liverpool. This book simply takes you on a journey through his work. The book documents his work in gallery's and current projects ... Read review
