A great biography
Review of Morrissey and Marr: the Severed Alliance (The Definitive Story of The Smiths) - Johnny Rogan by
doctor_gonzo
Advantages: very comprehensive
Disadvantages: none
...the emotional conundrum that is Morrissey than the comparatively straight-laced guitar genius, Johnny Marr. Indeed a large section of the first part of the book is a history of the Morrissey family before little Stephen's conception. Notes of interest include the fact that Mozza's dad was a good footballer. The most interesting parts of the book however are those that deal with the band's shortlived career. Rogan searches for explanations for some ...

Q Magazine: Quality not Quantity!
Review of Q Magazine, Rock Stars Encyclopaedia - Dafydd Rees, Luke Crampton by
rachelk18
Advantages: Perfect for music fans, covers many things, well written
Disadvantages: Can be occasionally biased
...a horrendously late newcomer to Q Magazine, having only actually bought my first issue last year, but it was a magazine that I always stood and flicked through in the supermarket as a child while my parents were paying for the shopping. Unfortunately, it stretched my small pocket money budget that little bit too far, being around £3 at the time if I remember rightly, so I stuck with my cheap teen magazines instead. History:

Content:
Ah! The fun bit. The content of Q, in my eyes, is almost ...

Advantages: Clear and Intelligent insight to a misunderstood man
Disadvantages: Can be very Graphic, no holds barred
I am a fan of Marilyn Manson's music wheras a lot of my friends are not... However I have discovered that there is a vast degree of interest in this man....
....and an awful lot of rumours...
"didn't he have some ribs removed?"
"he eats live animals"
"he worships satan"
"listening to his music makes people murderous"
If anyone has watched Bowling for Columbine they will see how this tradegy was blamed on Manson's music..... I would just like ... ...childhood of Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson), he seems to have had a fairly typical childhood, apart from a few disturbing incidents, notably discovering his grandad's collection of pornographic paraphonelia. He is also introduced to one persons version of Satanism from a young age, this version being the common misconception that satanism involves worshipping the devil but more on that later....
He grows up a kind of misfit in society, never ...
