I took a red bull and began to walk down the aisle to the checkout when my friend asked me to try blue charge. I took a little sip, then a bit more, some more, and soon the whole can was gone. It tasted identical to red bull. It was unbelievablely close, the only difference was that after having it my throat became ever so slightly dry.

However i was miffed about the high price, £1.60 in pubs, and around a quid in shops. It is not exactly a big can. This did not stop me from buying it and i thoroughly enjoy red bull whenever i have it.
A bit later on and many different companies tried to copy red bull with their own versions of the drink. If i was sceptical of red bull, then i was very sceptical of these. I have tried only one copycat drink- Red Devil- and can confirm it tastes like crap. Red bull remained the no1 choice cause it tastes so damn nice cold.
However, recently the shop i would get my red bull from has raised the price from £1.00 to £1.10, and i can see further increases on the horizon. This led me to look out for cheaper alternatives. One of these was blue charge.

I agreed with him and purchased a can. I thought i had just made a big mistake as usually copycat items are rubbish. Now normally i have red bull cold, so this was gonna have to be one hell of a copycat to impress me at room temperature.

Looks The can is nothing to that of red bull, but does have a decent stab at looking good. I would not be embarressed to drink it in the street, but the picture shown for this review is the old style can, it now looks better than that.
Taste As said above, this drink is brilliant value for money. Its taste is identical to red bull, and im sure would tatse just as nice cold. Theres something for you to try
Satisfaction Guaranteed. It is essentially red bull, and is especially nice on a hot summers day, or just after a race. The drink itself is very easy to consume as not much carbon dioxide is pumped into it.
Brand loyalty I would always buy blue charge in asda, but would still buy the occasional red bull. There is nothing that can substitute the luxury of a red bull, but it should remain as just that, a luxury.
One of the things for you techies out there to look for is the actual ingredients differences, post a report on here, if you can be bothered.
Blue charge is asda's attempt to rival red bull. It does so very well, and really matches the taste very well. Realistically, you have to be a red bull fan to notice the difference. This is the best copycat of red bull available, do not buy any of the others, such as red devil, they are rubbish.
For its price, you cannot go wrong, heck buy one of the big bottles for the same price as one red bull can.
Advantages: if you like red bull, you'll love this Disadvantages: far too sweet for my liking!
...And you liked it?! Well Asda has produced a 'copy cat' version of the Red Bull energy drink and has ironically called it Blue Charge! When Red Bull came out i thought 'yer i'll give this a try', wrong move! Then when i heard of this Asda equivalent,i thought this one might be slightly different and appeal to me more. I was wrong yet again!! I wonder if it gives you wings too?! :) What the hell is it?!
Blue Charge is a 'high impact energy drink'. ... ...Taurine, caffeine and vitamins, which are suppose to keep you awake and full of energy! Likely story!
What does it taste like?
Absolutely disgusting! It is far too sweet, and believe me i have the biggest sweet tooth going! However, this is not for me. It tastes exactly the same as Red Bull but cheaper! It tastes very fruity and is a red/pinky colour. It is too syrupy and sickly, i think next time i will give it a miss altogether!
How much do ...

Asda Blue Charge - 1 litre bottle
This is a high impact stimulation drink, which contains taurine and it is carbonated fruit flavoured with added caffeine and vitamins. It is basically a supermarket version of the well known Redbull. It is in my opinion a very tasty drink. Normally and preferred on its own but I have tried it with vodka which makes the vodka easier to drink but does make you get drunk quicker. I find this drink's texture like any ... ...as tinkerly when going down the throat. I could not say what flavour I am tasting but when I saw that it contains apple flavouring, then I realise it does have a hint of it. The 1 litre costed 89p (13/01/2009) from Adsa obviously. But I got the special offer, which was buy 3 for £2.50. Saved 17p only but its still a saving as I am going to drink all three bottles. There are no artificial colours or flavours and it is suitable for vegetarians. This ...

Advantages: Cheaper than Red Bull Disadvantages: just as horrible
...our usual shopping trip to Asda we spotted Blue Charge, Asda's version of Red Bull. At 48p a can I thought well that's like getting two for the price of one Red Bull, worth a try.
Like most of these types of drinks it contains taurine and added vitamins. I wouldn't go as far to say it tastes unpleasant but then again I wouldn't go as far to say it tastes pleasant either. It says fruit flavour on the can, but you'd be hard pushed to guess which fruit ... ...similar to that of Red Bull, and is also quite similar in taste. I found it a fair bit sweeter than Red Bull, but I wasn't buying it for the taste.
So up the following Monday and off to work feeling pretty good as it happens. Two cans of Blue Charge in the glove compartment. At lunchtime I dawdled out to the car and picked up one of the cans planning to have it half way through the second half of the shift. I felt OK all day Monday and it wasn't ...

Advantages: Cheap, tasty, does it's job well Disadvantages: any suggestions?
...value for money. As an Asda brand, it's always going to be cheap, but it's so cheap that I can spend half an hour on a trivia machine wasting 50p each go, and still have enough left for some afterwards!
===Effect===
Blue Charge contains Taurine, Caffeine and other fancy, long-named chemicals, but most of us simpletons dont understand this, and if you do, your either my Science teacher or Chuck Norris. Anyway, as I've stated above, I have used this ... ...friends among other things, so I am fairly experienced with the effects of the drink. I can definitely say that it's value for money. I tend to drink more than the average person, and one bottle lasted me the whole night, and the effects left me with enough energy to throw a plastic guitar at the screen when I failed one particular song on Rockband 14 times in a row before spazzing out and giving up. The effects linger for quite a long time, and ...

Advantages: Nice taste, cheap, gives you a bit of a lift Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...and Blue Charge DIET in ASDA but never tried it as it seemed too cheap and I though it would just be another gimmick so I was cautious at first.
They then started to do it in cans and this is when I took more notice.
A can of Diet/Blue charge, 250ml in size is only 29p.
What did I have to lose? (Apart from a measly 29p)
The can claims that the drink inside is a high impact stimulation drink so I put it to the test yesterday.
I had a can of drink ... ...me to drink whilst working out.
It tastes quite sweet, rather like Red Bull but not as strong in my opinion.
it is better chilled. The first one I had was straight out of the fridge but the second had been in my bag for a while and warmed up, this one was not as refreshing.
To be honest I felt I had a good workout yesterday. I was able to do what I had intended on the machines as opposed to a few days before when I stopped before the end feeling ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Asda Blue Charge"
Advantages: quick caffeine hit for when you really need it Disadvantages: sometimes can keep you up all night, overpriced
that red bull is an extremely expensive drink, and varies in price between 99p and £1.25 in most retailers for a 250ml can. I believe that this high price is mostly due to the high expenditure on advertising for the product, and thus I have to say that I believe that there are a number of far better value alternatives in the energy drink market, such as ASDA'S "bluecharge", or the all time classic - lucozade. Thus I accept that red bull is a well marketed product, however I cannot fully recommend it due to its high price and availability of substitutes. ...
Advantages: Satisfactory Energy Content Disadvantages: Addicting, Too Expensive, and The Can's Too Small.
bottles for the same price as cola or Dr Pepper.
Conclusion:
It's not as good as other drinks out there. If you get the Tesco or Asda own brand alternative (BlueCharge is Asda, and Kick is Tesco) tastes just the same if not nicer, for less then quarter the price (24p a can and approx £1.40 for a 6 pack). So this really is a hyped up energy drink that isn't worth it. I recommend:
- Getitng Relentless instead, tastes nicer, and double in a can.
- Get one from time to time as a little treat, mayble at a gym or something, but don't drink them regularily!
- Avoid this drink and get something else. ...
