Asda's 3 in 1 Dishwash Powder
After 24 years of washing up, I decided last week that I wanted a dishwasher. Although the main reason was because I hate washing up, I also wanted to get my glasses really sparkling clean.
We bought a Table Top dishwasher which is perfect for us. We are ... Read review

Advantages: Cheap, cleans really well Disadvantages: Bottle is hard to open
...So, off we went to Asda to see what powder they had on offer. Unfortunately, there wasn't a huge selection of Dishwash powder. Tablets seem to have taken over the dishwasher cleaning market so I only had two products to choose from. One was a well known brand, which advertised itself to be just 'Lemon Dishwash Powder'. and was priced at £2.58 for a 1kg bottle.
The other was Asda's own '3 in 1 Dishwash Powder, Lemon Fresh' and was priced at £1.98 ... ...decided to buy. **THE PACKAGING**
The powder is packaged in a 1kg white bottle. There's not actually much detail to the bottle - there is a label on the front telling us what the product is and the basics of what it does and a picture of a sparkling glass and fork in the background.
On the back is another label with details on how to use, cautions and ingredients. There are also contact details for Asda. Incidentally, this product doesn't seem ...

This is a review of Asda 5 in 1 Citrus dishwasher tablets.
We have had our dishwasher for a few years now and have come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for where dishwasher tablets are concerned. We prefer the tablet form of detergent purely for ease of use and less mess than powder. We have tried a few budget ranges over the years but find that the tablets do not dissolve or the dishes, especially glasses are left with a film of residue ... ...our pennies and noticed that Asda had a 5 in 1 product which was on offer for £2.79 for a box of 30 instead of £3.30, and this was quite a bit cheaper than the Finish equivalent so we decided to give it a go. This works out at less than 10p per wash.
The packaging was one of the reasons that we first noticed the box. It is a vibrant blue colour with the words "5 in 1" in bright red, and a large picture of a gleaming clean glass on the front. There ...

Advantages: cheap and convenient to use Disadvantages: none
...approx 8p per wash. Asda also do a pack of 50 but every time we're in there they have always run out. Overall there is only about 1p difference per tablet between these box quantities.
I haven't been able to compare the cost of the tablets with buying the items separately as I haven't been able to work out how many washes you would get from the individual products. Initially though it is a lot cheaper based on the Asda range as buying these separately ... ...so will continue with the Asda tabs.
One thing we have noticed though was once we shopped at our local Co-op just for a few bits and bought their own 3 in 1 tablets. They cost 70p more than Asda and when I opened them they were packaged exactly the same. Looks to me like they were exactly the same except for costing more.

Advantages: cheap, and it works. Disadvantages: not as convenient as tablets.
I always use this in my dishwasher. It gives a really good clean, and the dishes are always squeaky and shiny at the end of the cycle. I used to use tablets but when comparing them to the cost of powder I couldnt believe how much cheaper powder is, so had to give it a try. I have been using this one for approximately two years, due to the fact that I usually shop at Asda, and can honestly say that the level of dishwashing seems to be exactly the ... ...I pay about £1.87 for a 1 kg tub which seems to last for ages. It probably last for about 4-5 weeks of daily dishwashing. It is also 'lemon fresh' , doesnt actually smell like fresh lemons but the smell is ok, and at least it smells clean.
On the downside it is not as convenient or easy to use as tablets, but it is not too fiddly either, you just pour it into your dispenser and close the door. On the back of the pack there is a warning that it is ...
