When I visit Europe apart from duty free there is always one other thing on my shopping list and that's Peach Jam. Why is that you ask, well try and buy a jar here its well nigh impossible. That is till now. I was scouring the shelves of Asda looking in the off chance as I always do when there it was Peach and Apricot Jam. Not just peach I know but at 56p a jar well worth a try the added bonus was it was in the Good for You range. Sad I know but I could not wait to get home and try it.
The Jar The jar has a bright blue lid and the label had a picture of Peaches and Apricots on the front. It holds 320g and the best before date is on the side of the lid. It has the word NEW under the name so I certainly hope they continue with this flavour and it is as popular with others as it is in our house.
The Food Facts The good for you range has 50% less sugar and 0.1g fat in 100g and only 122 calories per 100g which is a third of the jar, even I am not that greedy. So on an average 15g tablespoon there is nil fat and just a trace of salt and only 18 calories. Woo Hoo it just gets better and better, tasty and good for you what more could you want.
The Taste test. When you open the jar you can smell the peaches right away. It is a very natural looking jam, no lurid colours plus you can see the lumps of peach. I would say the Apricot is blended to make the jam base and the fruit is lots and lots of diced peaches. It is a lovely consistency not at all stodgy and spreads really easily. Now to the taste. Absolutely divine is the only way to describe it no hard lumps and it is just the right sweetness with no added sugar the taste of the sweet peaches is just perfect.
