ASDA, THE ONLY TRUE ONE STOP SHOP?

Advantages: Vast Range of Products. Value For Money. Some Stunning (Non-Food) Bargains. George Clothes. Fewer "Trick" Offers.
Disadvantages: Dodgy Trolleys. Huge Check Out Queues.

...In the simplest of terms, ASDA is a nationwide "superstore" chain. My definition of the word "superstore" is as primarily a grocery store, with ancillary departments - clothes, electricals etc, rather like those in a department store. To fully qualify as a superstore in 2006, they will also have to retail petrol. In short a one stop shop if you like.

Whilst ASDA in this country is not THAT powerful, due to well established, larger, competition from Tesco, and to a lesser extent Sainsburys and Morrisons, it is still a big brand on the UK supermarket scene.

In terms of grocery sales it is the UK's second largest retailer, following Tesco, with Sainsburys in third place.

...shopper at my local Doncaster Asda I thought I would take you on a virtual shopping trip, so sit back and enjoy. The Entrance *************** The entrance to my store can get quite hectic in the busy periods of the day, especially rush hour, that's a killer. The reason for this is a badly placed roundabout with too much traffic volume for the width of the road. They really could do with adding another lane to stop the backlog this causes. Car ...

You can even get mini shopping carts so your child has a little trolley, this can help them feel part of the process and keep them quiet. But do keep an eye on what goes in the trolley. They also have a good selection of specially designed trolleys for ease of ...

Why I dumped Asda - A Strangely Difficult Acronym

Advantages: Some things are cheaper. It makes a change from Tesco
Disadvantages: It's dangerous and full of empty shelves. They can't check stock.

...breeding contempt, I started seeing Asda on the side. It is through no small effort that I have persuaded The Boyfriend that we should shop at Asda in recent weeks. He likes routine, to the point where he is a creature of habit. Unfortunately I have no time for this kind of whinging when there are supermarkets to visit. He put on the same T-Shirt he always wears to go shopping, left at the same time (on a Saturday as always) and had to take me to ...
...of our respective grandmothers. This Asda only ever warranted one visit from us, as despite a good selection of fresh fruit and veg, there were no vegetarian items in stock and it was on the small and stinky side. The biggest issue was the lack of car parking. The few spaces available were ones you had to pay up front for and then claim the money back off your shopping. Oh, and they didn't offer. You had to ask, or rather demand. We decided to try ...

...my experiences of shopping in Asda in Swindon, many miles from where I live, but occasionally I like a change from my usual supermarket (waitrose) and so am happy to travel for a different experience. Asda is part of the American Wall mart chain and I have happy memories of browsing the aisles of Wall Mart in Tucson and bagging many bargains, so how does this English alternative shape up? Come with me on a virtual tour to find out! The car park ...

All trolleys have always looked in good, clean condition. The entrance ...

Asda gets me smacking my backside!

Advantages: Cheap; great offers; great prices; great range
Disadvantages: Prices are really low so stock on offer go quick

Asda is our main 'walmart'/ supermarket that we shop at once a month. Our weekly 'top up's are usually done in supermarkets like Tesco, Asda, Aldi Lidl etc...so I can compare Asda to a few of the other main ones in my review. Asda is part of the 'Walmart' family, which is bascially a chain of discount stores worldwide. 'ASDA' is actually as aquisition of the names 'ASquith' and 'DAiry' because Asda was formed by a guy called Peter Asquith, who owned ...
...******** Store info********* Asda is open from 8am till 10pm on weekdays/ saturday and 10am till 4pm on Sundays. Our Asda is a Walmart so it is actualyl open until 12pm on a Monday and 24hrs on Tue - Fri. The main colour that denotes Asda is green. Sainsbury's is orange and Tesco is blue (just for your info). Whereas Tesco and sainsbury use a certain catchphrase to represent their company (Tesco is 'everylittle helps' and Sainsbury is 'try something ...

It Asda Be a Better Shopping Experience

Advantages: Too many to mention
Disadvantages: None

As you may know, I am a very loyal Asda/Wal-Mart customer. Although I have written a Ciao opinion on Asda/Wal-Mart before, I feel that I must update it, and this time, leave out the comparisons which I made with Safeway, who I may add, I currently work for. Although I stay almost 40 miles away from my local Asda/Wal-Mart, the distance doesn’t bother me at all. In my opinion, I’d rather travel and get better quality shopping at much lower prices, than shop locally and end up paying twice sometimes three times as much as I would do if I went up to Asda/Wal-Mart. The Asda/Wal-Mart store in Edinburgh I frequent has been upgraded to Asda/Wal-Mart SuperCentre status, and it is absolutely brilliant. I didn’t think that Asda could improve on perfection, but they certainly have. Since Asda was taken under Wal ...

Why I now shop at Asda

Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Not child friendly

' trolley pushers. I was forced to leave and go home with no shopping. By the time I was able to go shopping without children, it was 9pm, 2 days later, and Morrisons had shut at 7pm!! Thus my introduction to Asda. I felt so let down, that I wrote to the manager at Kendal branch of Morrisons, to express my upset, and to suggest that to be able to welcome more families (who probably, like me, spend thousands of pounds on groceries a year), that they invest in a few more of these trolleys. No reply. I copied the letter and re-sent it with another. No reply...... ...decide to give them the benefit of the doubt and go and see if they had simply resolved the problem without thinking it necessary to advise me. Two weeks later, weekly shop aborted again. Customer Services still no help. Still no more trolleys. Come home ...

Asda one stop shop

Advantages: Value for Money, everything under one roof
Disadvantages: Does not have the range of some toy stores

A great place to buy kids toys, good range and very good value. Plus all under one roof with the weekly shop so saves time. They do a very good range of dressing up clothes and have some really great Hallowween stuff in at the moment. If you can get to one of the big Wallmart superstores the range is even better. They also do a good range of pocket money toys, my little girl enjoys buying these. With Xmas looming, Asda is an excellent store to do all your shopping in, and take some of the stress and tension out of training round the shops, The range covers for all ages from wee babies to difficult to buy for teenagers ...
